After briefly dating when they were 13, it wasn’t until they met again 16 years later that sparks started to fly for Amanda and Craig. “It was great to catch up after all those years – I just wanted to be with him all the time,” says Amanda.

The proposal

Craig proposed to Amanda on Christmas Eve after they had been out with friends. “We were having a heart-to-heart in bed when he made me go and get him a drink,” Amanda recalls. “When I got back he was down on one knee with a ring in his hand.” Amanda was so shocked that Craig had to ask her again before he got an answer!

The bride’s outfit

Amanda found her dream dress at a wedding fayre in Bluewater shopping centre. With a sweetheart neckline, detailed beading and embroidery, the Ronald Joyce gown was ‘the one’ for her. “I was so excited and just knew it was the dress,” Amanda explains. She accessorised with a tiara from her sister, a butterfly necklace and diamanté bracelet.

Craig hired a grey suit with a smart white shirt, accessorising with a pale pink cravat. “Craig always looks good in a suit – he looked cute, smart and sexy all rolled into one,” smiles Amanda.

The bridesmaids

Craig’s daughter Millie was the flowergirl for the couple, and Amanda’s sister, best friend and niece were her bridesmaids. “I bought the dresses online, they were made in baby pink satin and adorned with a diamanté band under the bust,” Amanda explains.

The ceremony

Amanda and Craig tied the knot in a religious ceremony. “Our neighbour did a reading and we had a traditional entrance and exit,” Amanda says.

The reception

The couple held their reception in the grounds of Nurstead Court. “The best men had the children present us with a hotel room for the night. It was a huge surprise!” Amanda says. The reception was full of personal touches – the father of the bride’s speech included people that couldn’t be there, and Amanda’s neighbour Alan performed a touching poem about the bride.

The couple are yet to book a honeymoon after their money went on their dream day.
