The National Wedding Show set up shop in Manchester for the first time this year and, as you’d expect, Wedding Ideas was there to catch all the action! Editor Jade and Details Editor Sophie were both at the Manchester Central show on the look-out for brilliant new ideas for brides this coming year. So what were their fab finds?
Wedding dresses on the catwalk were fabulous and frothy with layers and layers of romantic fabric – perfect if you’re planning a fairytale theme. We also saw the return of straps on many dresses – good news if you’re looking for a strapless alternative.
We loved the off-the-shoulder designs as well as the flattering cowl necks, perfect for a wedding abroad. There were many tulle and chiffon dresses on show, all ideal for the heat of a beach wedding or a high-summer celebration. Take a look at some bridesmaids dresses perfect for summer right here.
The trend for 20s-inspired dresses was still going strong, with many of the models also sporting Gatsby-style headbands to complement their gowns. More confident brides among you may even like to try the elbow-length gloves – a real, vintage wow factor!
Staying with the catwalk for a moment, there was a real metallic vibe in the dresses, too, with many of the latest collections featuring wedding dresses with silver details. Silver stitched embroidery adorned the new-year designs, with sparkle at every turn!
Cakes with wow
The buzzword for wedding cakes seems to be colour! Check out this gorgeous multi-tiered creation by Cakes by Beth in Manchester. A definite contender for your ‘something blue’! Want something to fit in with a vintage theme? This pretty pastel-coloured tower of meringues would be just the thing. We love the bird details on here, too – how sweet!
Floral details
The big news for bridesmaids at the show was floral headdresses. Some of the best we saw were from Florrie and Eve and By Harriet – think oversized, pastel-coloured blooms, perfect for country boho or festival-style brides.
