From newly-opened country houses to converted barns, each month, we’ll have all the lowdown on the best new and outstanding venues out there for your big day.

Venue of the Month: Callow Hall

This month, we’re looking to Callow Hall, a venue that opened in September 2021 in the Peak District, near Ashbourne.

callow-hall-wedding-venuePart of the premium Wildhive Collection of hotels, this exclusive-use venue is an elegant Victorian country house with beautiful treehouse rooms for the bridal party and newly-married couple that add a unique element to the celebrations.

Nestled among ancient woodland and meadows, Callow Hall offers a number of beautiful rooms for everything from drinks receptions and civil ceremonies to wedding breakfasts, for up to 80 guests exclusively.

callow-hall-wedding-venueGuests can stay ‘in the house’ or ‘in the wild’, with rooms that blend rugged wilderness with homeliness. What’s more, guests can also enjoy the likes of afternoon tea in the Secret Garden, picnics by the brook and a sauna and steam room that offers organic and thermal spa treatments; Callow Hall can even arrange for a hot air balloon ride for the newly married couple to soar above the trees.

When it comes to dining, we love that Callow Hall is completely flexible – whether that be a feast in the woods or a drinks reception in the wild meadow, or canapés and cocktails in the country house sitting room.

Creative menus are bespoke to each couple, created around ‘farm & wild, sea & coast’ ingredients – think duck breast in an earl grey tea jus, Cornish ray wing, smoked goose breast and much more, as well as catering for vegetarians and vegans perfectly with the likes of plant-based wellingtons and cauliflower steaks.

With 15 house rooms, 11 woodland Hives and two Treehouses, in total, Callow Hall can accommodate up to 65 guests to stay over, meaning only 15 need to find extra accommodation if you choose to host 80 guests. Exclusive rates start from £30k.
