Bridal beauty begins with radiant skin, and a healthy diet can work wonders towards achieving that. But, for a little extra help boosting collagen, diminishing fine lines and smoothing out your skin, have you considered visiting a skin clinic? Becci Clubb tried out treatments to bring you the best in bridal beauty.

As a bride-to-be myself, that’s exactly what I did and I have just finished a course of treatments at EF MEDISPA. Launched in 2006 and with four clinics in London, one in Bristol, and one in Edgbaston, EF MEDISPA offer a whole host of cutting edge treatments for the face and body, ranging from non-invasive and minimally invasive right through to surgical options.

With my wedding day approaching, I wanted to concentrate on my face and complexion to get that bridal glow ahead of the big day. My course of six treatments included a mixture of IPL and Quick Lift laser treatments to tackle pigmentation and redness, reduce the appearance of fine lines, smooth my skin and minimise my pores. Quick Lift also works to lift, plump and firm the skin, boosting collagen by penetrating deep into the epidermis.

The experience started with an initial consultation, which included a full skin assessment using an Observ® Skin Analysis machine to determine the best procedure for my skin concerns. I did still feel nervous before my first treatment started, but the friendly chatter of Aesthetic Therapist Joanna put me at ease. It was reassuring to have someone check I was happy throughout.

A patch test in advance is also essential, and will show you how the laser will feel and sound, as well as how your skin feels afterwards, which is a little tight, almost like sunburn but without the sting! The procedure is completely safe and I had nothing to worry about.

Even better, Quick Lift has zero downtime, so you can have the treatment during your lunch break if you like – great when you’ve got a busy wedmin schedule to work around. In this treatment, the laser destroys old and damaged skin cells so that the body naturally produces new cells and collagen. It works under the skin, leaving the upper layers of the epidermis unharmed. This treatment is pain free and results can be seen within three weeks of the treatment.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy targets thread veins, rosacea, spider veins, sun spots and common signs of ageing. IPL uses a range of wavelengths that penetrate just below the skin’s surface. There’s no real downtime after this treatment, but it can leave your skin very red and, depending on how your skin reacts to the treatment, a little puffy. Saying that, the evening of my first IPL session I put some mineral makeup on and went out for dinner and no one noticed any redness or swelling at all.

Working on the melanin in the skin, the results of IPL are instantly visible, with any little broken veins and redness disappearing quickly and your skin tone becoming more even.

A combination of IPL and Quick Lift has re-textured my skin, giving it a smooth finish. The results can take up to three weeks and multiple sessions to notice the true difference, so start the treatment around six months in advance of your big day and you’ll be beaming down the aisle.
