Super silhouettes

We’re going to be seeing a real mix of silhouettes depending on the style of the wedding. Our favourite is the dramatic full skirt and nipped in waist with a feature belt. This creates such a classic bridal silhouette – a modern take on Cinderella! Try Grace by Donna Salado if you love this fairytale look.

For more glamorous brides, peplums are a great choice. Style ML7013 is a beautiful design featuring this detail. Make sure you try on a range of silhouettes when shopping for your dream dress.

Illusion necklines

Illusion necklines are still very fashionable as we go into 2014, especially with plunging sexy backs. Often looking demure from the front, they reveal the vamp at the back – perfect if you want to give your guests a surprise as you walk down the aisle. If you love this look, style ML7048 with its illusion neckline and plunging cowl back will be great for you. Alternatively try Elegance from Donna Salado.

Supportive straps

Straps are so popular at the moment as an alternative to strapless. Our style ML7071 has a very modern twist with lace shoulders going into a halterneck. These can be detachable to create two looks, making the gown strapless – ideal if you want to change your look from day to night. If you do not want straps but want to cover your shoulders a shrug is a lovely alternative.

Crystal detailing

Wedding dresses continue to be embellished in 2014 with crystal beaded belts on satins and organzas. Embellished lace is also big news on the bridal catwalks. Look for beautiful crystal cascades down the sides of skirts and around necklines. There is also a return to floral corsages enhancing necklines and hips – perfect for summer brides with a country garden wedding theme.

Fabulous fabrics

There’s a real range of romantic fabrics to choose from this year. We love sparkling tulle, layered lace and flattering floaty organzas. We will also see a return to more duchess satins with guipure lace trimmings.

Weddings abroad

Floaty organzas and chiffons are always a favourite for weddings abroad. Racer backs, cowl necklines and beautiful crystal beading will also catch the light and look amazing in your wedding photographs. If you’re marrying abroad try styles ML5085 or ML5083.
