Bridal bike shorts are one trend we weren’t expecting to see at this year’s Milan Fashion Week

Just when we thought we’d seen it all, bridal bike shorts have now hit the catwalks at this year’s Milan Fashion Week, and we’re not sure what to think.

Yes, you heard us right… bridal athleisure is apparently the next hot new trend to take the wedding world by storm – at least according to Belgian label A. F. Vandevost, who showcased a number of gym-ready wedding designs at this year’s fashion event.

Vandervost chose to pair the white, formal bike shorts with everything from puff-sleeved and ’80s-style tafeeta mini dresses, to suit jackets and laced satin hoodies.

Bike shorts have made quite the comeback in the fashion world recently, as the likes of Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian have been spotted rocking Spanx-like bottoms when out shopping for groceries or attending glitzy events.

The couple behind the brand have credited their latest collection as a study of the “heritage of wedding dresses,” said An Vandevost while backstage, “the way mothers pass them down to daughters and on and on.”

The range certainly is inventive, comprising a vast collection of vintage wedding gowns that had been cut up, reworked, and mixed with t-shirts, hoodies, studded trousers and thigh-high boots.

But while we’re all for being a little unconventional on your wedding day, the bridal bike shorts trend may take a little while to grow on us…
