Sophie and Sam both worked for the same company. “Our first date was at a comedy club in Manchester,” Sophie remembers. “We’re best friends first and foremost, and the fact we fell in love just feels incredibly lucky.”

Sophie’s Charlotte Balbier gown and beaded headdress came from Mears Ghyll Bridal Rooms in Lancaster. The bridesmaids wore suede rose wrap dresses from Dessy, purchased at The Bridal Boutique by Dream Capture in Bispham. The groom and groomsmen all wore outfits from Moss Bros. The couple’s ceremony took place at St Peters Church in Askham, perfectly located opposite Askham Hall in the Lake District, where the reception was held. “String Quartet, Serenade, performed Beethoven’s Five Secrets as my dad walked me down the aisle,” Sophie recalls. “And Ellie Goulding’s How Long Will I Love You played during the signing of the register.”

The bride, a self-confessed ‘Pinterest-addict’, was inspired by the site to wrap ivy and fairy lights around the balustrades and make embroidered fabric table plans on embroidery hoops in pink pastel colours. Because Sophie runs her own design company, Paper Pocket Designs, she made all the stationery herself, and her hand-tied bouquet was made by Green Wheat in Penrith. Sugar Ruffles and friend Lucy baked white chocolate and raspberry cookies for the evening.
