WHITE BRIDESMAIDS + BOUQUETS | ANTIQUE DECORATIONS AND RECORD PLAYER | AFTERNOON TEA | 1950’S STYLE TEA GOWN | ROLLING STONES COVER SHOOT FARM RECEPTION LOCATION
The couple met as teenagers, remaining friends for years before Bec asked Matt out in 2013. “By our third date, I knew I’d marry him,” says Bec.
The couple have four children between them and it was on their first holiday alone in 2014 when Matt popped the question. “He was shaking as he made his speech – it was just so cute,” says Bec. Bec saw her 1950’s style ivory silk and tulle dream dress by Lou Lou at Just A Day in Suffolk. “Wearing the dress on my wedding day, I felt the most beautiful I had ever felt in my whole life,” says Bec. A massive Elvis fan, the bride found her vintage Topshop ‘blue suede shoes’ and 50’s style two-tier veil online.
For the groom it was a tweed outfit from Brocklehurst in Buxton and bow tie from Mrs Bow Tie. The couple’s two oldest girls were bridesmaids and wore tea dresses from Monsoon and their youngest daughter wore a dress found online at lucilleslocks.com and msmoomakeup.com worked as a team to create Bec’s amazing wedding day style. They specialise in vintage hair and make-up and were hired to create Bec’s beehive and dramatic red lips. “Matt’s father gave me away at the church and as soon as Rev Stanley announced, ‘You are now husband and wife,’ I thought my heart would burst,” says Bec. The couple served a decadent afternoon tea for guests inside a tipi from Sami Tipi at Lucas Brothers Farm in Swarkestone – where the Rolling Stones shot their album cover!
Annie Johal created the flower arrangements and Bec filled a huge tin chest, that she actually found in a skip, with flowers for the reception entrance. Vinyl covers of Bec’s favourite singers such as Johnny Cash, Elvis and Dolly Parton made their table numbers. Personal décor from the bride and groom’s home, including fairy lights, bunting, an antique mirror, record player and jugs, were used for styling the tipi. The couple had ‘I Walk the Line’ by Johnny Cash for their first dance.
