THE MERINGUE GIRLS | GROOM NAVY & GREY | PEONIES + THISTLES + DAISIES
Mollie and Lee met during a night out in Angel, London three years ago. “Lee proposed in Corfu,” says Mollie. “It was one of the best moments ever.” From the moment she said yes, Mollie set her heart on wearing a gown from Grace Loves Lace. “My dress was bohemian with capped sleeves and a delicate French lace bodice,” says Mollie.
Although she stood barefoot for the ceremony, her satin sandals were from Jenny Packham. “I loved my forget-me-not and gypsophila flower hair crown,” she says. Lee donned a grey and navy wool mix suit from Ben Sherman and gold cuff links from Aspinal of London. Mollie’s sister, was her maid-of-honour and wore a vintage 70’s blue and white dotted dress with French Sole nude ballet shoes.
As Mollie works as an editorial make up artist, she not only did her own make-up, but everyone else’s too! Mollie’s friend, Ed Taylor styled her heavenly plaited up-do.
The ceremony was the best part of the wedding,” says Mollie. “It was so intimate: he cried, we laughed – it was all very romantic and dream- like.” Equally, the reception was a laid-back, rustic barn affair. “I bought tons of fairy and tea lights, wooden country boards and milk bottles from Etsy,” says Mollie.
A chef was brought in to serve a small intimate meal for 40. Guests enjoyed smoked salmon parfait, Navarin of Lamb, French peas and onion salad, celeriac mash potatoes, and pear and almond tart.
The flowers were styled by The Rose Garden, using Gypsophila, Peonies, Thistles and Daisies. Instead of a cake, guests were treated to amazing meringues from Meringue Girls in London. For favours they had mini milk bottles filled with Mr & Mrs Rock. Everybody danced to DJ Chris Mills soundtrack and enjoyed taking photos with the Fuji instax cameras. “We didn’t have a first dance,” laughs Mollie. “Instead we insisted everyone danced with us to a random Jocelyn Brown song!”
