How they met
“When we first met, I knew I was in a world of trouble,” laughs Annette. “I had just transferred from my company’s Texas office to London with the intent of only being gone for a year. My mother joked that if I met a guy I would never come back, and so when I met Greg within my first week of moving to London, I didn’t know how to break the news to my family!”
The proposal
“Greg woke me up about 5am one Saturday morning telling me to get up, pack my bags and not to forget my passport,” remembers Annette. “It turns out we were headed to Paris! We checked into a lovely hotel in the Saint Germain district, and after a day of sightseeing and wonderful food, he popped the question just as I was about to drift off to sleep,” adds Annette. Greg proposed with a temporary ring, so the couple could design her engagement ring together.
The bride’s outfit
After trying on over 50 bridal gowns in Texas, New York and London, our bride eventually found ‘the one’ at Angelica Bridal in Islington.
“I absolutely loved the dress,” beams Annette. “I was obsessed with the softness of the skirt and how romantic and feminine it felt to wear. I could completely imagine it working perfectly at our dream Italian day.”
The groom’s outfit
After being let down by a hire company, Greg and his boys had a mad dash around Westfield to find suits, two days before flying out to Italy! “The boys couldn’t find jackets during their mad shopping trip, but this actually turned out to be a blessing in the extremely hot Tuscan sunshine,” says Annette.
The bridesmaids
Feast your eyes on Annette’s five pretty best girls, who looked divine in their Monique Lhuillier dresses bought from Nordstrom in America.
The ceremony
Annette and Greg opted for a classic civil ceremony conducted by their Italian wedding planner and the town mayor in Montecarlo. A traditional Trio played music for the service as well as during the breakfast.
The reception
Being in Italy, obviously food was the focal point of the evening festivities and included arrival canapés, a buffet of starters (meats, cheeses and nibbles) followed by another three courses and then dessert and cake. Oh, and lots of the fabulous local wines!
The honeymoon
The couple spent two blissful weeks spent in Thailand, indulging in massages, touring ancient temples and generally relaxing in each other’s company.
