Hero’s Wedding was set up when Emma Waring from Military Wedding Discounts, Haley Oats from Hayley Ruth Photography and Steve Hooper (UK Wedding SEO) got together to pay it forward to our armed forced and create a competition, which would be life changing for one very special couple.
The competition had dozens of entries from very deserving members of our Armed Forced but thanks to a hand-picked panel of judges, which included Wedding Ideas’ very own Editor, Rachel Morgan, these were whittled down to just a handful! “Ross was serving in Afghanistan in an area with very limited communications,” says Rachel. “However someone in Camp Bastion saw on Facebook that he had won and they managed to get a message to him, and his boss arranged for him to have a call home so he could speak to Leanne, although it was only for a couple of minutes!”
The judging then went public and our winners, Leanne and Ross, were picked as the lucky couple to have their whole wedding organised for them – for free!
The bride’s outfit
On the morning of the big day Leanne was treated to some fabulous pampering from Make Up By Katy and Love Hair. Looking picture perfect in her A-line wedding gown from Trudy Lee, Leanne’s big day look was finished off with sparkling accessories from Olivier Laudus and a beautiful veil from Lily Bella.
Leanne’s favourite girls were decked out from head to toe in gorgeous twobirds bridesmaid dresses, which complemented their figures perfectly.
The groom’s outfit
Ross looked the part in his military dress uniform. He later changed into a sharp number from Stephen Bishop Suiting.
The big day!
Emma Waring from Military Wedding Discounts organised a wedding that Leanne and Ross would never forget! The love-up pair exchanged wedding vows in front of the Uttlesford District Registrars, in the incredible Parklands Quendon Hall wedding venue in Essex. Their gorgeous wedding rings were provided by Michael Frank.
The couple’s incredible reception was decorated by Violets and Velvet. Ross and Leanne’s guests knew exactly where to sit, all thanks to Top Table Planner and elegant bespoke wedding stationery designed by A Bespoke Design. Their wedding cake, designed by the amazing Love Cupcake, took centre stage at the reception.
Guests were treated to an amazing Britannia-esque sweetie buffet from The Sweet Shop Saffron Walden and some amazing favours from Mugs and More. They left their best wishes for Leanne and Ross in a guest book provided by Faithful Designs.
Every magical moment of the big day was captured beautifully on film by Music Wedding Videos.
After the big day
“Thank you everyone so, so much for making our wedding day possible,” say Leanne and Ross. “You don’t understand how much this means to us! Thank you so much for all the messages and well wishes. Thank you to all our lovely friends and family that were there to make the day so perfect! We are completely over whelmed and so thrilled to finally be Mr and Mrs Allan.”
