Happy couple Kate and Andrew had a beautiful, autumn wedding in the stunning venue that is Swinton Park.
During a super-romantic walk in the grounds of Swinton Park, Andrew reached into his pocket. Although not expecting a proposal, she immediately thought, “this is it!” However, Andrew brought out a tissue to blow his nose! A few minutes later it really was ‘it’ and the proposal finally happened for the lovebirds, who met at university.
The couple’s beautiful wedding also took place at Swinton Park, which included a small ceremony for close family and a blessing by a family friend who is a pastor. A lavish meal kicked off the reception, which included Yorkshire beef and pearl barley ragout and dark chocolate tart with mandarin sorbet.
Kate and Andrew chose George Harrison’s Got My Mind Set On You as their first dance, after which a DJ played tunes already selected by the couple to keep the dancefloor full all night long.
Kate was lucky that one of her bridesmaids, Fran, is very creative, so she made most of the decorations herself. These included a hand painted table plan and map of South America, the table names were the countries of that continent. The three-tier cake was made by Kate and her mother and bridesmaid Fran also made all the stationery. Rather than have traditional favours, Kate and Andrew donated money to Cancer Research, and gave their guests pin badges.
