WHO: Denise and Christian
WHERE: St Paul’s Church and Moor Hall Hotel
WHEN: September 2010
PHOTOGRAPHER: Matt Priestly Photography
The proposal
Was a surprise trip to the Big Apple! “Christian had arranged with my work to take extra time off, then he sneakily whisked us away to New York!” smiles Denise. “The day he proposed we had enjoyed a romantic walk in Central Park, dinner out in Times Square and then on to a basketball game. Obviously, I was exhausted after all that, but Christian insisted we see the Empire State building. I’m glad I eventually agreed, because that’s where he popped the question!” she adds
The bride’s real wedding outfit
“Every detail on my Ian Stuart gown, summed up my character and style to a tee,” says Denise. “I love being a little different and a bit funky and Sancerre did this for me.”
“All the intricate detailing on my Ian Stuart gown summed up my character and funky style perfectly…”
The accessories
“I couldn’t think of anything worse than sore feet on my wedding day, so chose to wear small kitten heels from Faith shoes,” recalls Denise
The bridesmaids
Denise kitted out her girls’ killer curves in mink-coloured dresses. “I wanted each of my bridesmaids to maintain their individuality, so they all wore a different style dress, in the same fabric from the Forever Bridals bridesmaid collection,” she explains
The groom’s outfit
We love a fashion-forward groom! Christian chose his own DKNY black tailored suit. “He looked so amazing, but then he always does in my eyes,”smiles Denise
The ceremony
Was a traditional Christian wedding service. “My Dad walked me down the aisle while a gospel singer performed Whitney Houston’s I Believe in You and Me,” recalls Denise. They also had two scripture readings and three hymns including Shine Jesus Shine
“Having my Dad walk me down the aisle, as a gospel singer performed, was such a special moment for us”
The flowers
Bramble Hedge Florist created the couple’s natural floral displays and also provided a collection of blooms to decorate their cake
The transport
Denise rocked up to her wedding, oozing old Hollywood glamour in her very own vintage convertible. The car was hired from Elegance Wedding Car Hire
The cake
For their real wedding, Denise and Christian’s traditional cake was made by the bride’s aunt. The same flowers that were used in the bridesmaids’ bouquets were placed on top as a dreamy decoration
The favours
Sweet treats were wrapped in clear cellophane and left for guests at their places. “Although it can be very tempting to spend lots of money on everything, this was an area I thought I could be creative and save some cash!” says Denise
The honeymoon
The newlyweds jetted off to Malaysia for four weeks. They took in the sights of Kuala Lumpar, and looked after orphan Orangutans in Borneo.
