A real wedding with a VW Camper van and a glamorous golf theme… Clare and Daryl got married in March 2011. Read on to find out all about it!

WHO: Clare and Daryl

WHERE: Chiltern Valley Winery & Brewery

WHEN: March 2011

PHOTOGRAPHER: Caro Hutchings Photography

The proposal

“Daryl introduced me to skiing and, despite being responsible for me becoming stranded and needing to be rescued by a mountain ranger on my first day, he still chose this as his way to propose!” smiles Clare. “After being together nearly six years, I was still so surprised when he popped the question, at the top of a mountain in Austria,” she adds

The bride’s outfit

“I found my dress at Wedding Centre during my very first appointment. I had no preconceptions about what I wanted, so went in with an open mind, and tried on about eight different dresses in total,” explains Clare. “However, I knew my Essense Designs dress was ‘the one’, as soon as the tears started!” she adds

The accessories

For a glamorous twist on real wedding tradition, Clare chose to wear a hairband from Halo and Co and shoes from Perditas Wedding Shoes. “Being petite and needing a specific heel height to lift my dress, I struggled to find anything suitable on the high street,” recalls Clare. “I looked online, and found the perfect pair at Perdita’s. Not only were they good value, but the service was great and they even came with a handwritten note, wishing me good luck for the big day,” adds Clare

“I was surprised that I chose an Audrey Hepburn updo. I normally wear my hair down, but I loved it!”

The groom’s outfit

“Daryl’s outfit was 100% his choice,” says Clare. “He knows what suits him and what he would be comfortable in, and I was careful to ensure it was our day, not mine!”

The bridesmaids

Clare had originally picked two best girls to accompany her down the aisle. However, one of the girls soon found out she was pregnant! With her due date being a few days after the wedding, it was decided that she would step down. Both girls were still very much involved with the two (!) hen dos and helped out in every way they could. Bridesmaid Kerry’s dress was from The Wedding Centre in Marlow, also made by Essense of Australia

The ceremony

“Putting the ceremony details together was definitely my favourite part of the planning,” says Clare. Their service included two readings and a selection of hymns performed by a local choir. “I’m really pleased I booked the singers, because they complemented the congregation singing and kept everyone entertained while we were signing the register,” she adds

“A brilliant memory for me was walking out of the church under a golf club guard of honour”

The reception

Daryl is a professional golfer, so it was obvious that their evening party would include a golf theme! The stationery was handmade by the couple and for place names, they printed each guest’s name on to a golf ball that they could take home

The flowers

“The colour scheme for the flowers was white with green foliage – classic and timeless,” says Clare. They were from White Gdn

The honeymoon

The newlyweds left straight after the wedding for the Maldives.
