A traditional real wedding in perfect pastel shades for this gorgeous summery celebration. We love!… Alison and David got married in August 2010. Read on to find out all about it!
WHO: Alison and David
WHERE: St Michaels Church and The Inn at Whitewell
WHEN: August 2010
PHOTOGRAPHER: Nicole Photography
The proposal
“The proposal was a complete surprise,” remembers Alison. “Dave had arranged it all in secret, by booking us a trip to Egypt to see the pyramids. He got down on one knee in front of all the others on the tour and asked me to be his wife,” smiles Alison
The bride’s outfit
Alison looked pretty as a princess in her strapless Ellis Bridals real wedding gown. “I bought the dress from a gorgeous little boutique called Orchid Bridal Lounge. The lovely lady Carol was so helpful and has since become a very good friend of mine,” recalls Alison
“My Dad walked me down the aisle, and has since said it was one of the proudest moments of his life”
The accessories
Alison completed her bridal look with a Swarovski crystal tiara from Adina (01617 961788), Nina Ricci shoes, (that took two months to arrive – but were worth the wait!) and a necklace from Jon Richard’s collection at Debenhams
The groom’s outfit
David and his 10 (yes, 10!) ushers hired their charcoal-grey top hat and tail suits from groomhire.co.uk in Wilmslow. “Dave looked a bit nervous at first, but he smiled as soon as I started walking towards him,” says Alison. They finished off their look with chocolate brown cravats and an ivory cravat for David
The bridesmaids
Alison’s two adult bridesmaids looked good enough to eat in their chocolate-brown satin dresses from <a href=”http://www.
watters.com” title=”Visit the Watters website” target=”_blank”>Watters. The cute-as-a-button flowergirls wore adorable pastel pink satin and tulle dresses, designed and handmade by the bride’s very talented Mum!
The ceremony
“It was very emotional waiting with my Dad to go down the aisle, and I will never forget it,” remembers Alison. “He later said it was one of the proudest moments of his life,” she adds
The reception
The picturesque surroundings of The Inn at Whitewell were perfect for the couple’s marquee celebration. Alison borrowed candelabra centrepieces from a friend, which she decorated with trailing ivy and pastel pink ribbons. “I also had 10 tea light candles on each table and fairylights on the ceiling. The whole room twinkled in the evening,” remembers Alison
“As massive Formula One fans, Dave and I chose to have our cake toppers waving a checkered flag”
The flowers
Lou Lou’s florist provided the pastel pink bouquets and buttonholes for the happy couple’s real wedding
The cake
“I ordered our real wedding cake from Sugar Lily Cakes. Dave and I are massive Formula One fans, so our cake topper was a bride holding a bottle of Champagne and a groom waving a black and white checkered flag,” says Alison. Finished beautifully with chocolate brown ribbon around each tier
The entertainment
Singer Tony Benedict from USO Productions performed in the day, followed by a DJ in the evening
The honeymoon
Was three weeks in America, which included a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon and watching the Beatles Love performance by Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas.
