Classic and traditional was the theme for Selina and Lewis’ stylish celebration – we love the soft pink colour scheme!
The proposal
After several years of pressure to propose from friends, family and even colleagues, it was hard for Lewis to find the right time to surprise his bride-to-be. “He proposed while we were in Devon celebrating a friend’s birthday, on the stroke of midnight, which happened to be my birthday too,” Selina recalls. “It was magical, and all our friends were ecstatic – the best man even cried!”
The bride’s outfit
Selina looked classically beautiful in a plunge-necked fit and flare gown from Demetrios. “It had lace over a completely transparent sequinned layer, which created a subtle sparkle from every angle,” says Selina. “Finding my dress is one of my very favourite memories of planning my wedding, and when I added a floor-length veil, my outfit was exactly what I had always imagined.” The bride teamed her gown with a sparkly tiara and jewelled shoes from Benjamin Adams.
The groom’s outfit
Lewis was the perfect English gentleman in royal blue tails in lightweight Italian cashmere, teamed with an ivory waistcoat, cravat and pocket handkerchief and brown brogues.
The bridesmaids
Choosing the bridesmaids’ dresses proved one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning for Selina. “The only thing I was very particular about was the colour,” she explains. In the end, the girls found the perfect blush pink dress in Coast, and teamed them with gorgeous sparkly heels from high street favourites Dune.
The ceremony
Selina and Lewis were married in a church ceremony that included readings from Song of Solomon and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. “Lewis muddled up his words during the vows, and the whole church burst into laughter,” Selina remembers. “It was a great moment and really helped lighten the atmosphere.”
The reception
Selina and Lewis were the second couple ever to hold their reception at Old Brook Barn, a new wedding venue in Essex. “The grounds are stunning – I feel very privileged to have been able to celebrate our marriage there,” says Selina. The couple kept their decor minimal, with lanterns and floating candles in the brook outside. “We also hired Love Light Entertainment to supply drapes, a huge chandelier and uplighters, which created a party atmosphere,” Selina adds. “The flowers were my favourite part of the wedding, with cream, white and blush roses – our florist took my imagination and made it a reality.”
The honeymoon
The couple travelled down the West Coast of America from San Francisco to San Diego, finishing in Las Vegas.
