Personal touches made Katherine and Mike’s vintage-inspired wedding a fabulous celebration!
The proposal
Music lovers Katherine and Mike met at Glastonbury festival back in 2011, but it was a summer trip to Canada that made Mike propose. “We arrived back from a very hot walk and Mike got down on one knee as I was freshening up.” Katherine had to ask him repeatedly if he was serious before finally saying yes!
The bride’s outfit
Katherine chose a vintage-style ivory lace dress with capped sleeves and a flattering V-neck. “I tried on about six different dresses before finding one that felt unique,” Katherine explains. Pearl earrings from her sister and a stunning vintage pearl necklace from Mike added some personal finishing touches.
The groom’s outfit
Mike wore a grey three-piece suit from John Lewis with a white bow tie, cane and fun Batman cufflinks.
The bridesmaids
The beautiful bride was attended by two maids of honour and four bridesmaids. She chose mismatched dresses for her girls – the maids of honour wore floral print gowns while her bridesmaids wore cream and dusty rose coloured dresses.
The ceremony
The couple had a civil ceremony in Cardiff. “My favourite memory was me walking down the aisle and seeing Mike waiting for me. He could tell I was nervous so whispered a joke in my ear when I finally reached him,” recalls Katherine happily.
The reception
The couple served canapés and seabass with potatoes, before an old fashioned ice cream vendor on a bicycle arrived outside to serve guests small pots of local ice cream as dessert.
The details
Katherine and Mike went for a vintage theme with teacups, bunting and paper chains for decoration. Katherine’s sister made all 70 cupcakes! “She asked us for a list of our interests but didn’t tell us why. Later we discovered she had printed images of all our favourite things and put them on cocktail sticks to go in the cakes!” Katherine recalls. The couple’s first dance was to Islands by The XX as Mike had put it on a mix tape for Katherine when they first started dating.
The honeymoon
The newlyweds spent their first days as husband and wife in Sorrento, Italy.
