The proposal

Ryan popped the question to his girl on her birthday. “He organised a BBQ with all our friends and family, but then took me quietly to one side to ask me,” remembers Nicola. “Afterwards, we went back outside and announced it to everyone, then continued to celebrate!”

The bride’s outfit

“I felt really great and special in my dress, completely different to the feelings I had from the other dresses I’d tried on,” explains Nicola. She wore a strapless A-line gown by Maggie Sottero, that she bought from Maria Modes. The look was completed with a tiara that she found at the National Wedding Show and shoes from Debenhams

The groom’s outfit

Ryan wore a traditional black morning suit with pin-striped trousers, a cream waistcoat and a merlot cravat to match the bridesmaids. The outfit also came from Maria Modes

The bridesmaids

Nicola’s three gorgeous older girls wore floor sweeping gowns from the Bhs wedding collection. The younger flowergirl wore an ivory dress with a merlot coloured band to tie her in with the bridal party

“I loved having the children that I teach at school sing for us during our church ceremony”

The ceremony

“My favourite memory from our service was definitely having the six and seven year olds that I teach at school sing in the choir for us. It was so special seeing them all singing their hearts out!” says Nicola

The decor

Using vintage-inspired items that they hired from Afternoon Tea Party, the couple – and their friends and family – decorated the marquee in the style of an afternoon tea party. We love the ‘who’s who’ board, with photographs of all the guests and their names so everyone knew who everyone was

The cake

“We thought our guests would have eaten quite enough cake after the tea party, so decided to have a cheese cake instead! We had four types of cheeses including smoked cedar brie,” recalls Nicola. The cake was bought from Paxton and Whitfield

The favours

Were Grassmere gingerbread in heart-shaped boxes and mini jam jars filled with sweets

The honeymoon

The couple went to Las Vegas, Hawaii and San Francisco for their slightly postponed honeymoon at Easter.
