How they met
“I remember thinking when we first met that I could imagine actually living with this guy! He was the first guy that I had ever felt like that with, and I think it was truly love at first sight,” smiles Sarah.
The proposal
Sarah and Colin were enjoying a weekend away in the Lake District to celebrate their friends’ 30th birthday, when Colin surprised his girl with a proposal. “He asked me to go for a walk with him, while dinner was cooking, but it had been snowing all day and was freezing, so I was really reluctant,” remembers Sarah. “Luckily, I went in the end, and he asked me beside a lake, by going down on one knee in the snow,” she smiles.
The bride’s outfit
Sarah looks princess-perfect in her shimmering, Maggie Sottero gown, which she bought from Tickled Pink in Hatfield. “The asymmetrical bodice magically slimmed down my waist, which I loved, and it was the first time it really sunk in that I was getting married and had found the perfect dress,” beams Sarah.
The groom’s outfit
Sarah ensured her man looked incredible on the day, by picking him out a black tail suit, which he wore with an off-white waistcoat and a matching gold cravat.
The bridesmaids
Sarah chose four beautiful bridesmaids, and her niece to be their flowergirl. Their exquisite, full-length frocks from Ebony Rose dresses get a gold star from us.
The ceremony
The couple opted for a religious ceremony, with two readings that included an extract from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and Corinthians 13. “I loved the experience of walking down the aisle with my dad, it’s a memory that I’ll remember forever,” says Sarah.
The flowers
Our bride chose a breathtaking shower bouquet of avalanche roses, freesias, and trails of ivy and ruscus, with diamanté studs in the centre of the roses. Their reception displays included a mix of pedestal arrangements and glass tanks, with a submerged avalanche rose, a glass heart, and a floating candle. All the floral fancies were put together by Julie, Signature Flowers.
The honeymoon
“This was a complete surprise, we booked a very last minute deal to Kos in Greece, using donations from our guests,” remembers Sarah. “If sunbathing is an activity – that’s what we did!”
