Laura and Steven chose a summery and elegant wedding in sunny Cyprus, decorating with pretty light pink details, and even a fabulous red open-top bus…
The proposal
Laura and Steven were introduced by a mutual friend who suggested they should meet up, and eventually they exchanged numbers. A year into their relationship the couple began talking about marriage. “We didn’t want to be engaged forever, and we knew we wanted the timing to be right,” says Laura. “After a long shift on New Year’s Eve, Steven said to me, ‘You know how we’ve talked about getting married? Well, shall we?’ We spent the evening choosing my engagement ring together and it was perfect!”
The bride’s outfit
Laura chose the beautiful ‘Diango’ dress by Pronovias for her big day. “As I walked up the stairs, I saw it immediately and felt a wave of excitement. I knew this was my dress!” says Laura. The gown featured delicate embroidery with a v-neck and flattering mermaid bodice. Laura chose earrings and a hair comb by Stephanie Browne at Liberty in Love as well as a Swarovski bracelet given to her by her mum. She finished her bridal look with gorgeous Jimmy Choo metallic heels.
The groom’s outfit
Steven’s trousers and waistcoat were from Next and his white shirt from Debenhams. “Because we wanted a destination wedding in sunny Cyprus, a suit jacket was out of the question,” says Laura.
The bridesmaids
Laura chose her two close friends as bridesmaids. They wore lace and chiffon dresses by Kenneth Winston and accessorised with champagne court shoes from Next and Corrine Smith eternity bracelets, which they were given as gifts by the generous bride.
The ceremony
This couple chose a civil ceremony abroad at the Olympic Lagoon Resort, Ayia Napa, Cyprus.
The reception
The Cyprus celebration continued with a cocktails and canapés reception and a generous amount of food for all the guests. The traditional cake was made by Jak & Jo at Love Island Cakes and went down a treat.
The details
Laura and Steven chose a classic and elegant theme for their wedding. “I really wanted to create a simplistic and timeless look,” says Laura. As they had their wedding abroad, the only decorations they brought with them were the chair bows, with everything else provided by Olympic Lagoon Hotel’s wedding planner Flo and Thomas Cook’s planner Charlie. “They both worked so hard to ensure our day was nothing less than perfect!” smiles Laura.
The entertainment
This savvy couple saved money by making use of the hotel’s onsite entertainment, and hired a red open top bus, which took guests on a tour around Ayia Napa.
The honeymoon
As they married abroad, Laura and Steven decided to extend their stay in Cyprus after the wedding, and have also booked a trip to Cancun for their first wedding anniversary.
