For this couple, their summer holiday became a romantic trip to remember. “Jon popped the question while we were holidaying in Santorini, in Greece,” remembers Katharine. “We’d had a lovely day exploring the island in our hire car, we watched the sunset from a cocktail bar in Fira, then went for dinner at a family run taverna on the South of the island. When we got back to our apartment, Jon got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was completely out of the blue! I don’t think he’d really planned on asking me then, because he hadn’t bought a ring or anything, but he was inspired by the beautiful setting and wanted to create the perfect ending to our holiday,” she adds

The bride’s outfit

“I’d gone to a sample sale at Ellie Sanderson’s boutique for a look around, not really expecting to buy anything,” recalls Katharine. “Nonetheless, I fell for a lovely Augusta Jones gown. It became my bargain buy of the wedding – even after having it altered and dry cleaned, I still saved myself hundreds of pounds compared to buying it brand new. In the end I had a completely bespoke dress, and no one could tell it was from a sample sale,” she adds

The groom’s outfit

“Jon wore a tailored shirt made for him by M&S. We bought the blue silk ties for the groom, best men and ushers online, and Jon got his shoes from TKMaxx, which he wore with his own suit – needless to say the budget went on my outfit, not his!” laughs Katharine

The bridesmaids

Katharine was accompanied down the aisle by two adult bridesmaids and adorable twins – their pageboy and flowergirl. The older girls wore royal blue, chiffon dresses from Coast, while the little ones’ outfits were from House of Fraser

The decor

“The reception was in a beautiful barn, which already had fairy lights set up and didn’t need much adding to it,” explains Katharine. “We borrowed bunting from a friend and used lots of wicker hearts that I’d made on my hen do. As well as flower displays and tea lights on each of the tables, I also used storm lanterns around the venue and hired white covers with blue sashes.”

The honeymoon

The couple took a dream trip to South Africa.
