Kathryn and Phil opted for a pretty pink wedding with lots of travel-inspired touches and a whole lot of romance…
Kathryn and Phil met at a train station, when the train they were due to catch was delayed. They struck up conversation and exchanged numbers just as Kathryn got off the train. The first thing she did was to send a text message to her best friends saying, “I’ve just met the man I am going to marry!” Their first trip away was a romantic weekend in Paris, in fact Phil first told Kathryn he loved her under the fireworks at Disneyland. “It was magical!” says Kathryn.
The proposal was equally romantic and also in Paris – a surprise trip that Phil had booked. He got down on one knee at the Musée Rodin and afterwards they went to the Pont des Arts – the bridge of committed love – where Phil produced a padlock, which he’d had made with their initials and engagement date. They locked it to the bridge and threw the key in the river!
Kathryn had been to a few wedding dress shops that stocked her favourite designer Sophia Tolli but eventually found ‘Lullaby’ at Bows Bridal Boutique in Ashford. She accessorised with an Ivory and Co tiara and ‘Penny’ shoes by Rainbow Club. The three bridesmaids – her best friends Gemma and Louise and Phil’s sister Chloe wore Mark Lesley dresses in the perfect shade of pink. Kathryn’s favourite memory is walking down the aisle with her dad, seeing Phil looking back at her!
Kathryn sourced most of her wedding suppliers through Wedding Ideas, including their stationery which was by Dreams to Reality and Ditsy Chic, her Rainbow Club shoes and Buy Our Honeymoon, who they used for their gift list. They married at Phil’s family parish church and chose their reception venue after hearing a radio advert for it some time previously. Hoo St Werburgh Church flowers were provided by and arranged by the church flower team. As well as three hymns, Kathryn and Phil chose Marry Me by Bruno Mars and Take That’s Greatest Day to play during the signing of the register. Readings included The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams.
The Orangery reception flowers were provided by Jill at Passion, who brought everything together perfectly. The table centres were stunning floral arrangements of aqua pink and ivory roses with gerbera and lysianthus. Vases sat on mirror plates with rose petals scattered around the bottom of them.
The theme was romance and travel, and included pink travel theme items like a world map, Eiffel Tower pictures and table names that were places they had visited. Letter paper and an envelope were provided for guests to write a message on, to be opened and enjoyed while the couple were on their honeymoon. Kathryn and Phil arrived over a bridge that the florist had decorated, accompanied by their guests clapping and cheering – another magical moment. The cake was made by Creative Cakes and had four tiers including chocolate, Victoria sponge, carrot cake and lemon layers.
The stationery came from Dreams To Reality and the table plan and name cards, from Ditsy Chic. Favours were shortbread biscuits from Creative Cakes. The children received ‘All About Party Bags’ containing toys and colouring books to keep them entertained. The first dance was Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T’s, followed by How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding.
