WHO: Luisa and Chris

WHERE: The Chapel in Christ’s College, Cambridge

WHEN: April 2011

The proposal

“We took a short break to Paris, and Chris proposed in some small gardens near Galeries Lafayette,” remembers Luisa. “I was completely surprised, especially since we had been looking at rings together a few months earlier, and I thought he had been completely freaked out by the idea! Of course, I said yes immediately,” she adds

Luisa looks captivating in her strapless Ian Stuart gown. “I couldn’t stop smiling,” remembers Luisa. “It was the only real wedding dress that I could see myself walking down the aisle in, and it felt right. I also kept thinking about the dress afterwards. I did make sure I was 100% happy though by trying it on again – it’s always worth sleeping on a decision,” she adds

“Chris and I met at Cambridge Uni. I knew there was something special about him”

The accessories

“The dress came with a choker necklace, matching the detail on the neckline. I had this necklace made into a brooch, which I wore in my hair,” explains Luisa. Her real wedding style was completed by a pair of elegant shoes from Rainbow Club

The groom’s outfit

Chris wore a traditional morning real wedding suit, which he teamed with a white shirt, a pale-blue, paisley-patterned, silk tie and plain-blue pocket square, all from TM Lewin

The bridesmaids

“I was looking to have a real wedding colour theme of blue and bright pink, as these colours work really well together, and provide a vibrant contrast. I bought my girls cobalt-blue prom dresses from Coast,” says Luisa

The ceremony

“We had two hymns, Thine by the Glory and Jerusalem,” remembers Luisa. “We also had Corinthians read in Italian, to reflect my family’s heritage. It’s lovely to hear such a well-known piece read in another beautiful language,” adds Luisa

“My Dad read a passage from Corinthians in Italian, to reflect our family’s heritage…”

The flowers

The real wedding arrangements were by Madeleine Bradley “I had white tulips because they were in season, with blue delphiniums for my bouquet and hot pink gerberas for the bridesmaids,” says Luisa. The perfect accompaniment for the girls’ cobalt blue dresses

The reception

University Arms Hotel in Cambridge was the perfect choice for Luisa and Chris’ evening reception. Their tables were decorated with flowers, table names and silver heart-shaped confetti sprinkles. For a twist on tradition, the couple made charitable donations to Cancer Research UK, instead of favours

The cake

The couple bought a three-tier high street real wedding cake from Waitrose, which the florist decorated with gerberas. Each layer was a different flavour – fruit, chocolate and sponge

The honeymoon

Luisa and Chris booked their honeymoon through Kuoni. They spent 14 days away, half in Sri Lanka and the other half in the Maldives.
