Entering the Creatiques bridal boutique in Southsea is like entering a wedding wonderland. Brides in search of their dream wedding dress travel big distances there to visit Rob & Andrew Pearce and feel treasured from the moment they walk in. Don’t just take our word for it. You brides, the readers of Wedding Ideas magazine (and you know what you like) voted Creatiques Best Retailer in the Wedding Ideas Awards 2011.
We had a quick word with Rob and Andrew and got the lowdown.
WIM: What are the most important parts of your business?
Creatiques: “The look on a bride’s face when we pull back the curtains and her mum is sat there in tears! To create a comfortable environment for brides and deliver exceptional customer service that extends way beyond selling a wedding dress. We also dress the bride on the day, to ensure that she feels like a million dollars.”
WIM: How did you start up?
Creatiques: (Andrew) “I started by making a wedding dress for a friend (17 years ago) and that gained me several orders for gowns. So we set up a workroom in the loft and hence Creatiques began. We were creating beautiful gowns and needed a name that reflected everything we do. After much deliberation we opened a shop and three years later in 2009 had to move to a bigger shop! You can check the video here.”
WIM: What’s next?
Creatiques: “We launch our own label this year, Creatiques Couture. The Collection is being called “Inspired” because quite simply, it’s our brides who inspire us.”
WIM: Any tips for other would-be entrepreneurs?
Creatiques: “Be prepared to work 24-7, make a good network with other businesses in your area, LOVE what you are doing, have a good accountant and a bank that looks after you. Treat your clients how you would wish to be treated, keep up with current trends (but know your business) and don’t overspend.”
What does winning a Wedding Ideas Award mean to you?
Creatiques: “Incredible, awesome – we’re still in shock. This accolade shows our clients have confidence in us to put together their look for the Big Day.”
Thanks to Andrew & Rob Pearce for the chat. Some good tips for other entrepreneurs to be!
