The proposal

Jenna and Ciaran met when they were 18 and immediately liked each other. “We went to a local pub but didn’t speak all evening as we’re both quite shy, and then when we got home we were texting each other all night, until the early hours,” laughs Jenna. They went for a walk along the river near Ciaran’s house for their first date and it was while on holiday in Tenerife that Ciaran proposed under the sunset. “I don’t remember any of what he said, I was so shocked,” says Jenna.

The bride’s outfit

Jenna looked beautiful in her ‘Antoinette’ gown by Romantica, which she bought in Future Brides near Bristol. The princess-style dress featured a lace up back and was covered in small crystals. “It was everything I’d dreamed of, I felt slim and like a princess,” smiles Jenna. She finished her look by adding a crystal tiara and full-length veil as well as lace peep toes with blue crystal “I do” stickers on the bottom.

The groom’s outfit

Ciaran wore grey tails with a waistcoat from Cameron Ross formal hire. “They were great,” says Jenna. “They came to the house to measure everyone then delivered the suits and picked them up again afterwards.”

The bridesmaids

Jenna was attended by five bridesmaids – four of her best friends from school and her closest friend from college. Jenna let her best girls choose their own outfits, which resulted in gorgeous hot pink satin dresses from BHS paired with cream peep toe satin heels.

The ceremony

The civil ceremony took place at The Grange Hotel in Winterbourne. Jenna’s dad walked her down the aisle and three of the couple’s friends read them surprise poems. “They really made our wedding,” smiles Jenna.

The reception

Jenna and Ciaran chose a shabby chic, garden party-themed day where guests were served a delicious barbecue instead of a traditional wedding breakfast. “We also included sprinklings of Disney,” says Jenna. “I love Disney but I didn’t want the wedding to seem really tacky so we had little references that our guests loved.” The couple decorated the room with personalised Cath Kidston bunting, tags and napkins, as well as a vintage red postbox for cards and a homemade guest book. “We had lots of ‘LOVE’ signs arranged on the table,” remembers Jenna. “We also decorated jam jars with ribbon and flowers and placed them around the venue.” The amazing four tier cake was created by Ciaran’s talented sister, and each tier had vintage Disney photos made from icing with a china Mickey and Minnie Mouse topper on top. “It was a lovely surprise and everything I could have ever wished for,” says Jenna.
