Despite a sad loss before the big day, nothing could stop the smiles at this pretty in pink wedding between Leanne and Michael.
How they met
Leanne and Michael first met at the age of 12, and dated for a while during their senior school days. “Then in 2009 we bumped into each other again and I knew that Michael was the man for me,” smiles Leanne. “He made me so unbelievably happy.”
The proposal
Michael proposed to Leanne on holiday in Taba Heights, Egypt. “We went for a stroll on the moonlit beach after dinner, and I remember thinking that Michael was talking complete rubbish,” Leanne laughs. “The next thing I knew he was down on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hand, asking me to be his wife. I was so shocked!”
The bride’s outfit
After trying on over 60 dresses, Leanne was beginning to despair. “Then I had an appointment at Love U Forever Bridal, and the sales assistant suggested trying a particular design,” Leanne says. “I didn’t really like how it looked on the hanger, but as soon as I put it on, I was sold.” The Essense of Australia dress was an A-line style with diamanté and sea pearl detail and a laced bodice. “My mum was with me when I found my gown, which meant a lot as she sadly passed away before the big day,” adds Leanne.
The groom’s outfit
Military man Michael wore his Number 1 army dress. “People are supposed to look at the bride, but I definitely think he diverted some of the attention!” laughs Leanne.
The bridesmaids
The five adult bridesmaids wore dusky pink gowns from Love U Forever Bridal, accessorised with a diamanté brooch.
The ceremony
The couple chose a religious ceremony. “My friend Roxanne did a reading accompanied by lots of sobbing – she was very emotional!” says Leanne.
The reception
Leanne and Michael opted for a pretty vintage theme with a dusky pink colour scheme. “We hired swags for the beams and chair covers, but the main focus was the beautiful flower displays by my talented friend Gemma Hutton,” Leanne says. “My mum had written a speech while she was in hospital, as she knew she wouldn’t be there on our special day. My cousin read it out and I’ll treasure that moment forever.”
The honeymoon
The couple spent nine nights relaxing in the Maldives.
