The proposal
Anwar asked his bride-to-be to marry him while they were on holiday in Crete. He went down the traditional route, down on one knee, having asked for the bride’s father’s permission beforehand
The bride’s outfit
Following a small hiccup where Rebecca initially found and bought a dress but then had to return it, she eventually found her ‘one’. “I was slightly nervous, given my initial disaster, but I did love my Claire Pettibone dress so much this time. My main problem with dress shopping was that there are so many beautiful wedding dresses in the UK, it’s hard to know if you’ve made the right decision,” explains Rebecca. “Looking back, though, I’m glad that I went with ‘Orange Blossom’, and made the decision to change my first dress. I think you do just know when something isn’t right, and you want it to be perfect.”
The groom’s outfit
Anwar chose his own grey morning suit, which he wore with a light blue waistcoat. “He looked extremely handsome,” beams Rebecca
The bridesmaids
“I had six bridesmaids who, between them, travelled thousands of miles to be with me for the wedding,” explains Rebecca. “Five travelled over from Australia, and one flew in from New York.
I’m very fortunate to have such great friends,” she adds. The girls all wore soft, blush pink gowns from Amsale, with different necklines to suit their individual body shapes
The ceremony
“We didn’t really want a formal wedding, we just wanted to throw a big old party with all our friends and family,” explains Rebecca.Their civil ceremony was short and sweet, with three readings and musical interludes from a string quartet
The flowers
The couple’s stunning floral arrangements were put together by Katja Berg of Roseberg
The stationery
“Amy Heitman made our invitations, name cards and orders of service, all in the same theme,” recalls Rebecca. “We also made ‘Who’s Who?’ books, which included a few sentences about each guest. Everyone loved reading about themselves, and it also acted as a great conversation starter,” she adds
The decor
The couple used event co-ordinators Sue and Clive from Eleganza Weddings to help turn their wedding dreams into reality
The cake
Rebecca and Anwar used cupcake bakers extraordinaire The Hummingbird Bakery in London to create their heavenly cupcake tower.
