This gorgeous pink wedding day saw our publisher, Kelly marry Simon in stunning Sorrento! The sun certainly shone on their special day…
The proposal
Kelly always thought Simon was handsome – the couple met at work and after a few months he finally asked her out for a drink. “We went to a country pub and spent most of the time laughing and playing pool,” smiles Kelly. “By the time I got home I realised we had been there the whole day!” It was when the couple were on holiday in Cape Verde that Simon finally popped the question. “I was on the balcony of our hotel room when I heard Simon call my name,” Kelly remembers. “I looked around and he was on one knee, the ring was stunning and obviously I said yes!”
The bride’s outfit
Kelly opted for a beautiful soft ivory gown from White Lace & Promises in Weston Super Mare. “I tried on various dresses but this was the only one where my mum and bridesmaids all cried. I felt amazing!” Kelly remembers. The dress had a ruched empire line bust and a flowing tulle skirt dotted with lace appliqué, while the waist was decorated with a small flower. Kelly accessorised with shoes from Rainbow Club, which she had dyed fuchsia to match her theme. “My earrings were my ‘something old’ because Simon bought them for me for our first Christmas together,” Kelly recalls. She finished off her look with a pretty veil with diamond-style trim.
The groom’s outfit
Simon wore light grey trousers and a matching waistcoat with a white cotton shirt, all from House of Fraser. “I’ve never seen him look so handsome – his choice of clothing suited our Italian location perfectly,” Kelly smiles.
The bridesmaids
Kelly was attended by two maids of honour, Tasha and Hannah, and her sister in law was bridesmaid. They wore short, floaty dresses from Coast and special bracelets, which Kelly made herself.
The ceremony
The couple had their stunning service in the origin of the monastery and Kelly had her mum walk her down the aisle. “I always wanted my grandad to walk me but unfortunately he passed away,” explains Kelly. “I was so proud to have her do it and my grandad would definitely have been proud of us both!”
The reception
The couple opted for a laid back BBQ on the terrace overlooking the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. A wedding planner took care of the flowers, which included Kelly’s bridal bouquet of pink lilies and roses, the rose buttonholes and her mum’s wrist corsage.
The details
Because Kelly and Simon had their wedding abroad it was difficult to take all the details they wanted over from the UK. Instead, they had a UK celebration on their return at Weston Super Mare pier, complete with a photo booth and DJ. “Mum and her partner made a sweetie trolley as a surprise and I absolutely loved it!” smiles Kelly. The newlyweds also hired a land train to take their guests to and from the reception.
The honeymoon
After their week celebrating in Sorrento the couple then flew to Barcelona where they visited all the sights. Six months later they made their dream trip to Las Vegas.
