We love a real wedding featuring pale pink, and this one is too pretty for words… Tanya and James got married in August 2010. Read on to find out all about it!

WHO: Tanya and James

WHERE: Larmer Tree Gardens, Salisbury, Wiltshire

WHEN: August 2010

PHOTOGRAPHER: Caroline Pilling Photography

The proposal

“When we met, there was definitely a ‘love at first sight’ thing going on!” smiles Tanya. “We caught each other’s eye across the dance floor, and I jokingly said to my friend; ‘I’m going to marry him!’, and here we are, years later, married!” she adds. The proposal took place one night before Tanya was heading back to university. “We were snuggled up in bed, having just watched The Notebook (lots of tears!) and were both emotional about having to say goodbye again. Suddenly, James said ‘Crumb, will you marry me?’ – and there were more tears. (Crumb is his nickname for me, like a sweet little cookie crumb!)” smiles Tanya

Tanya looked as pretty as a princess in her gorgeous strapless real wedding gown from Fiorisimo. “I loved how special my dress made me feel. It pulled me in at all the right places, and it was full-skirted, without being too much,” remembers Tanya

James hired his classic, grey morning suit from Moss Bros

The bridesmaids

“Their dresses were from Coast. They were pale pink, with a bit of poofyness! Very girly and romantic, but still a bit sexy. I wanted curves, and my girls delivered!” laughs Tanya

The flowers

“We spent a lot of money on flowers, complete with cute butterfly decorations, (sunflowerscm@yahoo.com) so they became our main decoration,” explains Tanya. We love the contrast between the pale pink and bright pink blooms

“It was love at first sight. I told a friend he was the man I would marry!”

The ceremony

“My Dad walked me down the real wedding aisle. We started our walk down the end of a pebble path, had a long walk through the gardens, then into the Victorian Pavilion ceremony room. He was cracking jokes the whole time!” recalls Tanya

The reception

The lighting and decoration of the reception room was provided by All the Kit. They also put up a projector to display a selection of photos of the couple over the years. James’ mother baked the couple’s cake and heart-shaped biscuit favours, while Juicy Lucy provided the table stationery. A chill-out marquee was also set up by DP marquees for guests to settle down in among some cosy cushions for a natter!

The honeymoon

“We went to Miami and then to New York for some shopping. I also grew very accustomed to ‘chocolate monkey’ (banana and chocolate) milkshakes while we were out there!” says Tanya. Yummy!
