The proposal
Dan took his girl by surprise, with a very unexpected proposal. “We were staying at the Malmaison Hotel in Leeds,” remembers Charlotte. “We had a blissfully romantic evening, with food and wine in our very own candlelit room, which was followed by Champagne, and ‘the question’,” she smiles
The bride’s outfit
Charlotte looked like the star of the show in her envy-inducing Ian Stuart gown, which she bought from Tickled Pink in Doncaster. Her aisle style was completed with a tiara and shoes also both from Tickled Pink and underwear from Debenhams
The groom’s outfit
With a little help from his bride-to-be, Dan picked his grey three-piece suit and mink cravat both from Tickled Pink
The bridesmaids
Charlotte certainly made an entrance as she walked down the aisle accompanied by her adult bridesmaid plus four little ones. “The oldest three girls all wore dresses from Tickled Pink, while the youngest two had adorable little flowergirl gowns from Debenhams,” recalls Charlotte. All the children accessorised with little shoes from Next and jewellery from Accessorize
The make-up
Charlotte looked pretty as a picture after having her make-up done by Amanda Shaw. “Amanda works with soap stars and celebrities making them look perfect for award shows like the BAFTAs, and she’s a close family friend, so I trusted her to make me look gorgeous,” explains Charlotte
The ceremony
The couple opted for a traditional, religious service at their church. The ceremony included a selection of Bible readings, two hymns and the traditional Bridal March as Charlotte and her father entered the church. “My favourite moment was definitely when the vicar pronounced us as husband and wife,” recalls Charlotte
The reception
Took place at The Mount Pleasant Hotel in Bawtry. Their wedding breakfast menu included a mouth-watering selection of treats – leek and potato soup to start, chicken with sunblush tomatoes, seasonal vegetables and potato gratin for mains and dark chocolate torte with white chocolate ice-cream for dessert. The couple catered for 75 day guests, with a further 125 joining them for the evening party
The decor
To suit their classy and elegant wedding theme, Charlotte and Dan bought lots of dreamy details to decorate the reception room. “I chose candelabra for the table centres, a Mr and Mrs sign for the top table, and chair covers that were provided by White Rose Occasions,” remembers Charlotte
The flowers
Lucky bride Charlotte only had to turn to her very talented mum to make all the arrangements for her wedding day flowers. “Being the daughter of a florist was a great help,” explains Charlotte. “I was able to have my pick of the bunch from Mum’s shop, Charlotte’s at Hatfield, and she was great for advice,” she adds
The speeches
“All our speeches were so memorable, and all of them made me cry,” recalls Charlotte. “My dad’s was very touching, which was followed by a similarly heartfelt speech from my gorgeous groom, and then a very funny speech by our best man, too,” she adds
The cake
Charlotte and Dan chose a delicious-looking white chocolate creation from Classic and Contemporary Cake Company, who are based in Doncaster. A close friend of the bride’s also made a selection of cupcakes, which guests could take home and enjoy at a later time as favours
The entertainment
The Steve Love Band got everyone up and rocking on the dancefloor, while the ice cream trike from BumbleVee Scoops and sweetie bar kept those less energetic guests entertained. Finally, toastmaster Les Hizzett from the Yorkshire Toastmaster ensured everything on the day ran smoothly for Charlotte and Dan
The honeymoon
Our gorgeous couple jetted off to the Maldives for seven nights, followed by a further three nights in Dubai.
