The proposal

“Darren took me to Devon for a week, a few days after I finished my uni exams. Unfortunately, we got lost on the way down and had a row. I was moaning because I had a terrible cold, and Darren expected us both to traipse down to the beach!” remembers Sarah. “I did eventually agree, despite it being dark and cold, and it was following a lovely little speech that Darren asked me to marry him,” she smiles

Sarah had the va-va-voom factor in her killer slinky, 20s-inspired Jenny Packham real wedding gown. “It was so amazing – the lightweight fabric just skimmed over my body, and up close the fabric glistened and shimmered,” recalls Sarah

The groom’s real wedding outfit

“Darren bought his suit from reissonline.com. It was quite expensive, but Darren is a clothes man, so knew that the cut and fabric would make it worth the price. Also, because it’s such a classic style he’ll be able to wear it again and again,” explains Sarah

The bridesmaids

Sarah’s six dazzling bridesmaids wore sleek and sophisticated black satin cocktail dresses from Next

The ceremony

“The ceremony was very personal to us,” says Sarah. “We chose our vows very carefully and wanted to keep the ones that rang true for us. My cousin also wrote us a lovely poem, which she read during the ceremony,” adds Sarah

“Instead of favours, we put a large amount of money behind the bar!”

The reception

“Our theme was clean modern lines with classic glamorous touches. The Roof Gardens in London has lots of personality, so instead of fighting with their decor, we decided to keep things light, sticking to a black and white colour scheme,” says Sarah

The cake

To help them stay within budget, Sarah and Darren bought a selection of decorated cupcakes from Waitrose

The favours

“Instead of favours we decided to put a substantial amount of money behind the bar. We felt our guests might appreciate that a bit more!” laughs Sarah

The entertainment

Was a pianist and saxophone player during the drinks reception followed by a DJ into the early hours

The honeymoon

Using gift donations from family, the happy couple were able to spend a month honeymooning in Lanzarote.
