This stunning real wedding abroad in Italy oozes glamour and a bride with two dresses! Katrina and Jaffar got married in November 2010.
WHO: Katrina and Jaffar
WHERE: Masseria Cimino Brindisi, Italy
WHEN: November 2010
PHOTOGRAPHER: Antonella and Claudia Francese
The first meeting
“Our first date happened the day after we met,” remembers Katrina. “We were at a film festival, watching a film that Jaffar had written and directed. I was so scared that the film was going to be bad and I was going to have to pretend I liked it! Thankfully, the movie was amazing, and I left even more smitten with him than I was before.” Jaffar surprised his girl with a New Year’s Day proposal, complete with her favourite song, a bubble bath and Champagne on ice. We love!
The bride’s real wedding abroad outfit
“We split our day into two parts – so naturally I needed two real wedding dresses!” smiles the bride. Her hired ceremony gown was designed by Vera Wang in a unique butterscotch colour. “It was the perfect combination of girly and sophistication,” recalls Katrina. Her second gown, by Stella McCartney, was silk, with a sweetheart neckline and a sheer overlay. “The Stella dress was perfect for the evening, I felt much more comfortable, confident and ready to let loose on the dancefloor!”
The groom’s outfit
“My husband is very slim, and usually has trouble with clothes being too big (I wish I had that problem!), but we found him the perfect suit by J.Lindeberg,” says Katrina
“It was a very small real wedding in Italy, so I just had the one maid of honour, who wore her own dress, I asked her because she is the reason Jaffar and I were introduced. If she hadn’t broken the heel of her Louboutin and fallen in his lap, we may never have struck up a conversation!” laughs Katrina
“If it wasn’t for my bridesmaid falling in Jaffar’s lap, we may never have met!”
“The ceremony was beautiful. The day was perfect and sunny, and the moment I first laid eyes on Jaffar, it was as if time stood still. It was the truest moment of pure joy that I have ever experienced,” she smiles
The couple’s evening party took place at Masseria Cimino in Italy and included local DJ Francesco Vurchio, who had everyone on the dance floor until 3am! The cake was also provided by the venue. Favours were traditional Italian Confettis from Rome – always look to go local on your own real wedding abroad!
“We decided to tour Italy for our honeymoon. We visited Positano, Rome, Tuscany, and ended in Florence. It was a little bit hectic, but well worth it for the most amazing memories and photos we now have,” says Katrina.
