The first meeting

Laura and Hassan met at college, and were best friends before they realised they had something special together. Eight years later, Hassan popped the question during a romantic meal in Las Vegas. “I was completely surprised,” laughs Laura. “Even though I knew we would get married one day, it still came as a complete shock, I didn’t actually give him an answer straight away, I was so surprised!”

The bride’s real wedding outfit

Laura wore a shimmering Justin Alexander gown. It was silk lined, adorned with crystals, pearls and beading, and the skirt fell into a chapel train. The dress also came with a cute short-sleeve jacket. “It made me feel beautiful, just as a wedding dress should,” smiles Laura

The accessories

Laura won a competition on the wedding site Rock my Wedding to get 75% off the new Flo and Percy range. “I bought the gorgeous Wilderness hair comb for a very discounted price. It’s gorgeous and I love it,” says Laura. She also wore a beautiful jewellery set from Yarwood White

The bridesmaids

The two older bridesmaids wore floor-length gowns by Ebony Rose Designs in Amethyst, while the younger girls wore the same dress but in Plum

The ceremony

Laura’s father walked her down the aisle to Paul McCartney’s Calico Skies. Their intimate ceremony featured two readings including The Art of Marriage and Love Is

The stationery

“I made all our stationery. I’m a graphic designer and I knew it was something I could do,” says Laura

“With help from family I made so many of the decorative items for my big day”

The decor

“With the help of my Mum and bridesmaids, we made nearly all the decorative items,” explains Laura. “We made chalkboard heart placecards, I made wine glass charms that guests could take home, and for the back of the ceremony chairs we hand sewed purple fabric hearts. Also, for the sweet table, we made a wooden ‘sweets’ sign that we painted and varnished,” she adds

The cake

Blue Door Bakery provided the delicious-looking cupcake tower filled with individual vanilla and chocolate cakes

The entertainment

Live band The Subs were the perfect choice to get guests in the rock ‘n’ roll mood. A DJ performed during the break

The honeymoon

The happy couple toured the USA for three weeks visiting Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle and New York.
