A pretty real wedding in a fab teal colour and a gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown… Jen and Matt got married in May 2011. Read on to find out all about it!
WHO: Jen and Matt
WHERE: Baddesley Clinton, National Trust House
WHEN: May 2011
PHOTOGRAPHER: Daffodil Waves Photography
The proposal
“We went to Amsterdam for my birthday in 2009. One evening, after a lovely Italian meal, Matt stopped me on the way back to our hotel, saying he had one last birthday surprise. From the lining of his ‘big’ coat he pulled a beautiful marquise ring, with the question – ‘Jen will you marry me?'” she smiles
The bride’s outfit
“I always wanted a Maggie Sottero gown, so whenever we were out shopping I told my Mum not to look at anything else!” says Jen. “All of the Maggie Sottero dresses are so beautiful, but I fell in love with Lavina – a one-piece gown with a slim A-line skirt and chapel-length train. I felt amazing when I put it on. Everyone says there is one dress out there that is made just for you, and that is exactly how I felt,” she adds
The groom’s outfit
Matt’s charcoal-grey Ashborne real wedding suit was hired from Formal Affair. The jacket was a herringbone style, which he teamed with charcoal trousers, a plain ivory waistcoat and a teal cravat and hankie
The bridesmaids
“Again, I knew from the start I wanted my two bridesmaids to wear dresses by Dessy,” recalls Jen. “I was recommended Lisa’s Bridalwear by a work colleague. They were so great, and helped us find the Dessy gowns in a perfect teal colour.”
The flowers
A family friend created the couple’s blooms. Jen’s bouquet consisted of ivory roses, Calla lilies and green hydrangea with diamanté pins in the rose heads
“I always wanted a Maggie Sottero gown, so didn’t look at anything else!”
The ceremony
“Our ceremony took place at St Michael’s Church. I have grown up going to that church, and it was the only place I wanted to wed,” smiles Jen. Their hymns included Morning Has Broken, All Things Bright and Beautiful and Give Me Joy In My Heart
The reception
“We had our reception party at Baddesley Clinton. For me, there was never going to be anywhere else. My Dad is head gardener there and we lived on site, so all my childhood was spent at that property. We chose to marry on a Monday because the house was closed to the public, meaning our guests could enjoy the grounds and house in peace,” smiles Jen
The cake
Their stunning cake was created by Elite Cake Designs. We love the teal ribbon and brooch, the perfect finishing touch
The honeymoon
“We love all things Disney, so we had to go to Disney World in Florida. Swimming with dolphins was a dream come true,” says Jen
