This cute couple paired a romantic, rustic theme with a beautifully bright colour scheme for their sunny spring wedding!
The proposal
Lawrence spent eight months planning the perfect proposal, which took place while the couple were holidaying in Ibiza. “He hired a luxury speedboat and took me out on a surprise trip, before anchoring in front of Café Del Mar, where the crowds gather on the rocks to watch the sunset,” Felicity recalls. “As the sun was setting, Lawrence got down on one knee and, shaking like a leaf, he popped the question as the onlookers cheered. It was a magical experience.”
The bride’s outfit
Felicity fell in love with Christina Sposa’s Rhyse, an elegant taffeta gown with a sweetheart neckline and intricate crystal and pearl beading. “As a little girl, I adored The Sound of Music and vowed that one day I would have a dress with a train as long as Maria’s,” explains Felicity. “Although my train wasn’t quite that long, I felt like every bride should feel in her dress. It made me cry and clap with excitement.” Felicity added a tiara and veil from Berketex, with pearl and crystal detail.
The groom’s outfit
Lawrence chose a smart dark grey herringbone suit with an ivory waistcoat from Grooms of Wellingborough, with a coral pink cravat to match the bridesmaids’ dresses. “It was like seeing my Prince Charming,” smiles Felicity.
The bridesmaids
The four bridesmaids wowed in their bright coral satin gowns from Berketex. “We knew that with an April wedding, the weather might be dull, so we chose a vibrant colour to brighten things up,” Felicity explains. The girls also wore silver and pearl hair slides from Accessorize and jewellery from Debenhams.
The ceremony
Felicity and Lawrence opted for an unusual selection of music for their civil ceremony at Shottle Hall. “Lawrence is a DJ and we both love dance music, so we had piano covers of our favourite dance tunes for the arrival and exit music,” says Felicity. “We wrote our own vows and kept them a secret, so it was very special to hear them for the first time on the day.”
The reception
The theme of Felicity and Lawrence’s day was rustic romance, with love birds, birdcages and hearts. Family and friends joined forces to create the details, including vibrant organza pom poms and chair sashes to add splashes of colour, handmade bunting, a wicker picnic hamper and confetti cones made of vintage-style wallpaper and filled with rose petals. After an Irish ceilidh, DJ friends – and the groom himself – played sets.
The honeymoon
The couple spent their action-packed honeymoon in beautiful Indonesia.
