How they met
“We had known each other for a few years through work before we got together. We’d always got on really well and would find any excuse to chat about anything but work. So when we finally got together, we already felt like we knew each other. It meant that our relationship moved forward really quickly and we got engaged just over a year after getting together. We knew after only a few months of being together that it was the real deal!” smiles Katie.
Scott surprised his girl with tickets to go ice skating at Somerset House. “We went after work, we’d had dinner and a few drinks before heading to Somerset House. We were stood on a balcony overlooking the river and admiring the view and before I knew it Scott was down on one knee!”
The bride’s outfit
After seeing an advert for Kitty & Dulcie in Wedding Ideas, our bride knew she had to get her hands on one of their dresses. “I loved their philosophy, as it was exactly how I felt about our wedding. It proves you don’t need to spend thousands of pounds to get a dream dress – mine was just £285 and was absolutely perfect.”
The groom’s outfit
“Scott is Scottish, so he wore a traditional kilt for our wedding. We went to visit his parents in Glasgow and had the kilt made specially while we were there,” says Katie.
Katie’s two best girls wore bright green chiffon maxi dresses from Monsoon. “Because Louise and Lucie are about a foot different in height, it was hard finding a dress to suit them both, but this maxi gown looked lovely.”
“Walking in and seeing Scott was by far my best moment,” says Katie. “I couldn’t get down the aisle quick enough to be beside him.”
“We wanted to give our guests a choice of food so we created our own menu with Ben, the Head Chef at the Prince Albert. Ben is really into using fresh seasonal produce – the food was fantastic! We wanted to finish the meal with a bit of fun so we served jelly and ice cream for dessert!” says Katie.
Katie and Scott’s honeymoon was a historical sightseeing trip, followed by relaxing beside the Red Sea at Jordan in the Middle East.
