Back is the new front when it comes to wedding dresses in 2015. In fact, on, so many of the dresses have such spectacular back detail that they often highlight the rear image over the frontal one.

Ironically, lots going on at the back can make as much impact as nothing going on – there’s nowt so sexy as a backless dress. The keyhole is a good halfway house, with some of your back on display but framed by exquisite lace or embellished tulle. But it’s the illusion panel that’s the look for this year, and here are six of Find Your Dream Wedding Dress’ favourite ‘back numbers’ to get you started…

Jo by Augusta Jones has a magnificent tattoo lace forming a back panel and sleeves. Flowers climb up the spine, across the shoulders and down the arms like roses on a trellis.

Beautiful by Enzoani is a collection that knows a thing or two about making an impression. Less is more on this dress, with the tulle skirt neatly complemented by a sheer illusion panel at the back with just a hint of lace appliqué at the sides.


As the name implies, true Hollywood glamour is conveyed in Judy Garland by Jade Daniels. A high neckline with a mandarin collar is paired with all-over lace at the back with near buttons running all the way down to the hem.


A simple dress by Alexia Designs, Style 1094, is elevated to a whole new level with a sheer back panel embellished with lace and buttons. Simply beautiful.


A richly beaded back panel lends Style F171010 by Jasmine elegance and sophistication, added to by the delicate capped sleeves. The pattern formed by the beading has a hint of vintage styling.


Illusion lace forms a focal point on the back of Finley by David Tutera for Mon Cheri. It is used to make the sleeves as well, and these can be removed for a different look. Look at the way the lace detail is heavier at the top with a sheer panel across the middle of the back.
