Do you want long and floaty, short and sweet, just a sheer hint or a full-on extravaganza? No, we’re not talking about the dress, but the veil!

Remember that the first time your guests – and indeed your man – lay eyes on you on the big day, you will be wearing a veil, so you’re going to want to be sure to get it right. Louisa Shulman at Find Your Dream Wedding Dress picks six of her favourites to get your decision-making started…

Charleton by Joyce Jackson

Soft, sheer, beautifully edged – if you are choosing a traditional wedding dress that shouts elegant and sophisticated, Charleton by Joyce Jackson is a perfect pairing. It’s a romantic train-length veil finished with contemporary Italian lace.

Style 5495-D by Malis Henderson

If you want a vintage look with a contemporary twist, this is your veil! Malis Henderson’s halo of embroidered appliqués creates a wreath effect, which even does away with the need for a headdress. This comes in white, gold or silver – great to have the choice!

Empress by Rainbow Club

Italian tulle is one of the best fabrics for veils, and we love this little shortie – Empress by Rainbow Club. It is double layered, coming down as far as the waist at the back. The stunning lace trim is the real talking point here.

Lynton by Joyce Jackson

Maybe you just want a hint of a veil – this little piece, Lynton by Joyce Jackson, is perfect for older brides, second weddings and those who are going for a more simple look. It’s irresistibly enchanting with birdcage veiling, beautiful hand-beaded floral detail and a definite hint of the 1950s.

Style 5231-DM by Elen Henderson

Wow! This is a favourite of designer Elen Henderson and we can see why. Layers of handmade sating petals drift across floaty tulle and are accented with gleaming pearls and sparkling rhinestones. There’s a set of three matching hairpins, too.

Ziva by Rainbow Club

Rainbow Club’s simple yet stylish Ziva veil is a really popular choice with brides. The length suits most styles of dress and wedding, and the pearl and diamanté edging is the perfect finishing touch.

  1. I had a beautiful cathedral veil, I don’t like the double tier ones though and I didn’t want to wear it over my face so I had a single teir veil and it just set the look completely! I loved mine so much I didn’t take it off all day or night lol
