Adding your own personal touch to a vintage wedding theme is easier than you might think
There are lots of different DIY products on the market that are perfect for this purpose. To give you a helping hand, we’ve teamed up with
Stamps
Although stamps might not be that cheap to purchase, they can be used and used and used (the price of the stamp shown in the picture starts from £6.50). So once you’ve purchased your stamp, the cost of each item is minimal.
The more you use your stamp, the cheaper it gets. With many different stamp inks available, you are not tied to specific colours. One of the nicest things about stamps is that if you choose a nice, wood mounted one (such as our Noolibird stamps), they are a perfect keepsake to add to your memory box, or even to keep on display. Beware when using stamps, though – once you start, it is very difficult to stop!
Cameos
Cameos are a great DIY option for crafty brides. Starting at a price of only 10p each, they are a fantastic low-cost way of adding a beautiful finishing touch to your wedding. One of the things we love about cameos is their versatility. They can be easily stuck onto any item of wedding stationery, added to cakes or table decorations. They can even be used on wedding accessories such as handbags, shoes and hats. Where would you put yours?
Flowers
If you are planning a 40s or 50s-inspired wedding, you just have to include flowers. You can make this option as cheap or as expensive as you want to. Papers are a great way of adding a vintage floral touch. Retro floral print papers can be used on all your wedding stationery, confetti cones and bunting. It looks great if you mix and match the colours and prints, too. You could also consider some beautiful resin or felt flowers if your budget allows.
Keys
For an edgy and cool vintage look, we recommend using keys. They look amazing when combined with kraft papers and twine. Use them on everything from your save the date cards right through to the final finishing touches. They are incredibly easy to use so even the most novice of crafters can make them look great.
Brooches
For a really extravagant vintage touch, brooches and embellishments are the way to go. Smaller embellishments start at only 11p at Imagine DIY and go up to around £2.15. Although not necessarily the cheapest option, they are undoubtedly a really striking finishing touch that will get your guests talking.
If you’re on a tighter budget, consider using smaller embellishments for most of your wedding stationery and adding a few coordinating larger brooches to the larger items like your table plan and wedding cake.
