If you’re planning a spring wedding, then why not consider a pretty pastel Easter theme? Think springtime flowers, pastel colours, eggs, rabbits and LOTS of chocolate – here are 19 best buys to get you started!
This time of year is great for holding a wedding, as the weather (hopefully!) starts to get a little sunnier and the beautiful spring flowers begin to bloom. Easter also marks the start of the wedding season, which means that your guests won’t have wedding fatigue and you don’t have to worry about summer brides having the same dress/flowers/theme as you!
Creating an Easter wedding theme is a piece of cake. We recommend using pretty pastel shades, as these are very popular around springtime and suit the fresh feel of the season. Dress your bridesmaids in sorbet shades – see here for more inspiration – and use venue decorations in lilac, baby pink, lemon and mint. Think Mini Egg colours and you’ve got the theme spot on! Pom poms, paper decorations and hanging lanterns are perfect for this.
Spring means lots of fresh flowers too, so use them to your advantage! Blooms like daffodils, tulips and hyacinths all look stunning in both bouquets and as table centres. Follow the theme through and decorate your stationery with floral patterns if you find bunnies and chicks too cutesy (although we love an adorable animal on stationery!).
Food is easy for Easter weddings – incorporate chocolate wherever you can and your guests will love you! Sweets like Mini Eggs make the perfect wedding favour, and even the old favourite sugared almonds will suit your pastel theme. You can always use larger eggs like Creme Eggs or Kinder Eggs too – mix it up! If you’re creating a candy bar or dessert table, don’t forget to include a traditional simnel cake and hot cross buns.
Easter eggs in a basket also make brilliant centrepieces. Add in a few chicks or bunnies if you’re so inclined! This theme is great for kids, as you can get them to decorate their own eggs, either on paper or on actual eggs. If your venue has gardens or grounds, you can also organise a huge Easter egg hunt to keep them entertained! We bet even the adults will be joining in before long…
