Light me up

Twinkly, romantic and suitable for most wedding themes, fairy lights and Christmas tree lights are the perfect example of a Christmas decoration that can be used at any time of year. Gift sets as gifts

Bridesmaids love to be pampered and you love saving money, so buying beauty gift sets in the Christmas sales is the perfect solution. Look for sets with perfumes, body creams, self tans and hair products and give them to your girls to get them looking big-day ready!

Yes your holiness…

Nothing spoils a lovely wedding suit like holey socks! Make sure your man’s wedding look is perfect top to toe by getting him some brand new socks in the sales. They’ll be so cheap you can splash out on your other groomsmen too!

Baubles, twigs and decorations

Feeling crafty? DIY your own table centres with white and silver baubles and metallic coloured twigs. These types of decorations are always reduced in the January sales, and will make gorgeous wintry table centre ideas with a little imagination. Small bird and animal decorations could also be used as quirky cake toppers!

Outfits – suits and dresses

This one takes a little more organisation and is probably not a good idea for large wedding parties. But if you’ve got just one or two bridesmaids, get up early and head out to the stores where you might just find the perfect bridesmaids’ dresses for a complete bargain.

Candles

The easiest way to give your ceremony a romantic look is by using candlelight, so stock up on large church candles just after Christmas. Dot them around your venue, on window sills, on the top table and create an intimate atmosphere on your special day. Just check that your venue allows them first though!

Lanterns

A wedding essential, lanterns will not only give off a subtle, romantic light at your reception they will play a practical part in lighting pathways and entrances. Visit garden centres to get the best deals.

Bunting and garlands

Hanging decorations are going to be huge in 2013 so grab yourself some bunting and wintry garlands. Use them to pretty up your reception room or to create a fun little area where children can play while the speeches are in full flow.

Fireworks

New Year’s Eve will be filled with fireworks – and that means big discounts on New Year’s Day. Look for sparklers in particular, which can be used to create picture-perfect moments on the big day.

Alcohol

Champagne, Bucks Fizz and Christmas spirits like Sherry will all be reduced after new year’s day. Take advantage and stock up on drink for your hen and stag parties and don’t forget to get a bottle of champagne to sip on on the morning of the wedding!
