Use these expert tips from luxury wedding consultant Lisa of Just Bespoke to transform your wedding venue from dull to dazzling – without blowing the budget!
Do your research
It’s tempting to jump in with both feet and buy everything you see straight away, but try not to. Do your research and really consider the look and feel that you’re hoping to achieve. Read Wedding Ideas for inspiration and then create a scrapbook (or Pinterest board) of your finds!
Keep in budget
Set yourself a styling budget and stick to it. Often big-day props will only be used on your wedding day and you’ll have no use for them afterwards. Consider hiring items such as vases, hurricane lanterns and tableware to cut costs.
Colour scheme
Work out your colour scheme and then look to incorporate it into your styling. This will help to create a seamless look and finish – from table linen through to flowers. You could even introduce an accent colour to lift your scheme.
Venue features
Consider ways you can make use of any existing features in your venue. Are there any large fireplaces or floor-to-ceiling windows that can be decorated?
Bloom beauty
Dramatic flowers aren’t limited to large floral centrepieces – consider floral archways, floral chandeliers or a large standout display to transform your space.
Blank canvas
Blank canvases are a stylist’s dream as you can literally make them what you want – however, they can also be costly. To keep costs down, think about adding a couple of key elements to transform the space.
Light up
Strategically placed up-lighters to frame a floral display or to highlight a feature can transform a venue. Consider having different lighting in different rooms to separate and distinguish the different spaces.
Off the wall
You might think that vertical structures aren’t particularly interesting, but use them. Blank walls provide the perfect backdrop to prop up mirrors or photos.
Ceiling detail
From hanging vases, to paper pom poms, bunting and lights, there’s so much more scope for decor if you look up high!
Simplicity is key
Less is more is often the case when it comes to venue styling. A few key elements are much better received than decor overload, so pick a few things that reflect the style you want for your wedding.
