It’s no secret that a lot of time is spent admiring everything about celebrities: their lifestyle, relationships, fashion and of course, their jewellery. Here at Wedding Ideas, we spend most of it obsessing over the rocks on their fingers. Ranging from huge 15-carat diamonds to pink diamonds to art deco style rings, celebs have it all; so Cleo Greaves has compiled a list of the very best celebrity engagement rings.
Alison Brie
Alison Brie announced her engagement to Dave Franco, the younger brother of James Franco at her screening of ‘Sleeping With Other People’ in August. The ring is a one-of-a-kind rose gold ring set with rose cut diamonds and a diamond pave.
Amal Alamuddin
The London based Lebanese-British lawyer tied the knot with Oscar-winning actor George Clooney last year. Her engagement ring is unforgettable though, the 7-carat emerald cut diamond, which is set in platinum was estimated to cost around nearly half a million pounds! The couple now reside in a house at Sonning Eye, Berkshire, which cost around £10 million – no expense spared!
Amber Heard
Amber Heard’s relationship with Johnny Depp was kept very quiet until he was spotted wearing an engagement ring early last year. He then announced that he was engaged to the 29-year-old actress and was wearing the ring until he could get it resized for her. The ring itself is a huge round-cut diamond with two pear-shaped diamonds either side.
Scarlett Johansson
Johansson’s finacé, the French journalist, Romain Dauric definitely did not go for a traditional style when choosing an engagement ring for the Hollywood actress. Instead, he went for a gorgeous Art Deco style ring with three round cut diamonds laid vertically, which creates the stunning rectangular shape. This retro-inspired ring is certainly impressive and unlike anything we’ve seen in a long time in celebrity engagements.
Beyoncé Knowles
Jay-Z undeniably put a ring on it when he presented Beyoncé with an 18-carat flawless diamond back in 2007. The astonishing diamond is set in a platinum band and is valued at around 3.3 million pounds!
Nicki Minaj
Minaj posted this spectacular engagement ring on Instagram on her birthday after rapper Meek Mill allegedly popped the question. The 15-carat fancy yellow heart diamond is mounted in platinum and has a double halo of white pave diamonds going around the outside of it.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga’s fiancé proposed to her on Valentines Day and gave a huge heart-shaped diamond with white diamonds going all around the band. The ring has an added personal touch too, on the back of the band is a T and S separated by a heart in white diamonds to represent “Taylor loves Stefani” – the pop star’s birth name.
Fearne Cotton
Fearne’s ring is another choice that sways away from the traditional style, without a diamond in sight, the ring sports a geometric style set in white band with the pattern outlined in gold. Her fiancé, Jesse Wood certainly chose a truly unique engagement band for the 34-year old presenter.
Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman’s engagement ring was handmade by designer Jamie Wolf who worked closely with her now husband, Benjamin Millepied to design a ring that was personal to her. The ring features an antique old mine cut diamond, with a pave of certified conflict-free going around it; this is in keeping with Portman’s vegan and eco-friendly ideals. The platinum of the band is also made from recycled material.
Kate Middleton
Possibly one of the most famous engagement rings of the twenty-first century, Prince William used his late mother’s ring to propose to Kate. The engagement ring consists of 14 solitaire diamonds, which surrounds a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire and the band is set in 18-karat white gold.
