From shark cage diving to a galactic getaway, if you and your husband-to-be are a pair of thrill seekers, then you’ll love these adrenaline-fuelled honeymoon ideas!
Cycling in Whistler, Canada
If you both love mountain biking, then this is possibly one of the best trails in the world!
The Top of the World alpine trail is a mind-blowing experience that starts at the top of a chairlift at Whistler Mountain in British Columbia through 5,000 feet of riding, winding down through areas not even open for skiing! The views at the top are sensational across the Rockies and the journey as exhilarating as you’re likely to find anywhere.
Cage shark diving
Here’s something that will really get your heart racing. How do you fancy getting up close and personal with a Great White, Tiger or Bull shark in their natural environment (from the safety of a shark cage)?
Imagine a Tiger shark veering towards you with a glint in its eye, close enough to touch – although we’d recommend that you keep your hands inside the cage. You can cage shark dive in Mexico, South Africa, the Bahamas and Australia. There are several companies who offer diving packages with cage shark encounters.
You’ll need to have your diving qualification already and you’ll probably find that a one shark dive is sufficient. Although, who knows, you could develop a real addiction to the thrill of it all.
Abseiling down Table mountain
If you’ve both got a head for heights and want to see some spectacular views then an abseil down this iconic peak would be perfection with a 112m drop from 1,000 metres above sea level.
South Africa is a beautiful country for honeymooning, with no jet lag, perfect climate, dramatic game reserves, vineyards and a stunning coastline.
Bungee jumping in New Zealand
Sheer terror for some, pure bliss for others. If you’ve ever wanted to experience the thrill of bungee jumping, you might as well go to where it all started from in New Zealand. One thing’s for sure, you’ll get some film footage to show the grandchildren to prove you made the most of your youth and fitness.
They’ll also admire your courage when they see that you were happy to plunge 134 metres into a void suspended from a cable!
Quad biking in Namibia
Forget exploring the desert by camel (sounds romantic, feels uncomfortable). Instead climb the sand dunes of Namibia by quad bike.
We like the sound of this three-hour ride through the Swakop riverbed, stopping for a substantial breakfast and a two-hour ride back through the sand dunes. Namibia also has wonderful wildlife if you want to take a safari while you’re there.
White water rafting

You don’t have to go far afield to have some serious adventures. The British Isles has some spectacular natural scenery to explore with plenty of opportunity for thrill seekers.
You can go white water rafting at twilight on the River Tummel in Perthshire, Scotland – not being able to see clearly and know what’s coming up is all part of the fun!
Skydiving in Vegas
Planning on getting married in Las Vegas? How about celebrating with a skydive afterwards? You’ll get amazing views of the Hoover Dam and the Colorado River and you can dive together, both strapped to an instructor. Another great one for the memory bank and you can have a film taken on the way down, too!
Kite surfing
A fabulous hobby to learn together that will bring an extra dimension to your holidays abroad. It’ll take you about 6-9 hours of instructions to be kite surfing in the sea and before you know it you’ll be whipping through the waves together.
Amazing exercise, great for toning arms, legs, tummies and perfect if you’re speed merchants.
Dog sledding
Fancy dashing through the snow – not on a one horse open sleigh but pulled behind a pack of husky dogs? The cold air of the mountains on your face, the thrill of the sledge hurtling along – it’s also romantic as you travel through amazingly beautiful landscapes. We like the idea of dog sledding in the Canadian Rockies near Banff National Park with Howling Dog Tours.
A honeymoon in outer space
If money is no object and you want to explore the furthest horizon, then book a place on the Virgin Galactic Space mission. You’ll need about $200,000 each but you will experience zero gravity and see the view of earth from 110km up. Truly a honeymoon experience that is out of this world.
