A fabulous real wedding in South Africa with a hot pink colour theme
A hot pink real wedding – the perfect colour scheme for this big day in South Africa… Jo and Danny got married in October 2009. Read on to find out all about it!
WHO: Jo and Danny
WHERE: Le Manoir de Brendel, South Africa
WHEN: October 2009
PHOTOGRAPHER: Warren Williams
The proposal
After travelling around China and Vietnam with the ring hidden in his backpack, Danny proposed on the last night of their holiday, over a candlelit dinner in Vietnam
The bride's outfit
Jo's Eddy K gown was perfect for their summery do. "I loved it and knew it was the one for me. I did try on others afterwards, but nothing compared," recalls Jo
The accessories
Jo teamed her hot look with a sparkling tiara from Tiara Store and hot pink shoes that she bought on the Internet
The bridesmaids
Jo's adult bridesmaids wore knee-length black dresses from Monsoon with a handmade hot pink sash. Her adorable niece, Olivia, their gorgeous flowergirl, wore an ivory ruffled dress from M&S with her own handmade sash
The groom's outfit
Danny, his best man and the bride's father wore lightweight grey suits and fuchsia-pink shirts from Next. "I wanted to incorporate the pink with the men, but didn't want them to wear ties, because it would have been too hot in the South African sun. Plus, we were going for a relaxed feel, so this style worked perfectly," says Jo
The ceremony
As the couple were getting married in South Africa… "We spent the whole morning relaxing by the pool, the wedding wasn't until 4pm, but I started getting ready around midday. Danny didn't start until 3.30pm, which I think shows just how relaxed the whole thing was!" smiles Jo
"Our vineyard wedding changed us... We're now definitely big wine drinkers!"
The decor
"The flowers and decor, plus all the reception details were arranged by our real wedding co-ordinator at le-manoir-de-brendel.com. She managed to pull off our vision completely, and with the perfection that I would have had, too," recalls Jo
The cake
"Our two-tiered cake was dark chocolate mousse and ganache on the bottom, with a vanilla sponge, strawberry yoghurt mousse and chocolate curls on top. So tasty!" remembers Jo
The second party!
After the couple returned to England, they threw a second wedding party for 200 guests, where they showed photos from their real wedding on giant TV screens
The honeymoon
The couple and their wedding party stayed on in South Africa for a further week, enjoying shark cage diving and scenic drives.
