How they met

Kelly and Lee met in 2000, while Kelly was a student. "He proposed on the morning of one of my friend's weddings," Kelly says. "Lee just cooly and calmly suggested finding me a big rock to wear!"

The bride's outfit

"I knew my dress was 'the one' as soon as I put it on," Kelly says. "It was a Mon Cheri dress - one of the first dresses I ever cut out of a magazine." Kelly bought her dress and veil from Wedding Belles and borrowed a tiara from her sister. Shoes from Bag Boutique finished the look.

"I fell in love with the black and white theme - it was just so easy to match!"

The groom's outfit

Lee hired his suit from Watkins.

The bridesmaids

Kelly had four bridesmaids and found the perfect dresses and necklaces in Tesco.

Big day details

There was a relaxed start to the day, as Kelly and her wedding party stayed at the ceremony and reception venue, Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel, Bridgend, the night before. "The ceremony was relaxed and informal, but we opted for traditional vows," Kelly says. Next, guests moved on to the reception and wedding breakfast, including a meat and fish carvery. "We also had a melon starter and chocolate fudge brownie for dessert!".

The theme

"Being a graphic designer, I went through many colour schemes," Kelly says. "But I fell in love with the idea of everything being black and white - really sophisticated and smart. I bought candelabras from Next and birdcages from The Bee Orchid in Bridgend to add a romantic touch".

Favours for all

Guests found bags of coconut marshmallows waiting at their reception place. Kelly lovingly made all 80 bags herself!.
