A charming real wedding with fab vintage details and sage green girls
A vintage real wedding, with sage-green dreamy details that are bound to inspire… Laura and Ben got married in April 2011. Read on to find out all about it!
WHO: Laura and Ben
WHERE: Kingston Country Courtyard, Purbecks
WHEN: April 2011
PHOTOGRAPHER: Debra Hurst and Francoise Stevens
The proposal
"We had talked about marriage and knew that it was something we both wanted, but I was still very surprised when Ben proposed," remembers Laura. "We hadn't long been in our house, and one night I arrived home from work to find the conservatory filled with candles, and Ben cooking a three-course meal! He popped the question over dinner. I was so shocked, happy and excited. He had also asked for my Dad's blessing, which meant so much to me."
The bride's outfit
"I found my real wedding dress at Daisy Bridal. Believe it or not, it wasn't a dress I had considered, or picked out as one to try on, but the owner of the shop suggested I did so. Of course I immediately fell in love!" smiles Laura. The gown was by essensedesigns.com. Laura had a halterneck strap added for the perfect finishing touch
The accessories
Instead of a veil, Laura chose to wear a selection of pearl and crystal hair pins from Glitzy Secrets to really work the vintage trend. Her earrings were a beautiful real wedding gift from her husband, and her dainty shoes were by Rainbow Club
The groom's outfit
We think Ben gets top marks on his choice of suits. Hired from Moss Bros, he proves that being particular about fit and style pays off. "Ben also insisted on buying a cane, which he carried with him on the day. This was certainly a talking point of the event."
"It was such a magical feeling, walking down the aisle to Ben, even though I was very emotional"
The bridesmaids
Laura kept it in the family, choosing her sister and Ben's sister to accompany her down the aisle. Their foreverbridals.com dresses were from Posh Frocks in Winton
The ceremony
"It was such a magical feeling having my Dad walk me down the aisle to Adele's Make You Feel My Love," recalls Laura
The cake
Was a three-tier heart-shaped cake, made for the couple by a friend. Working with their florist, Maria from Simply Flower, Laura added fresh rose corsages to decorate each layer
The favours
Laura collected antique teacups and saucers, which were filled with wax and made into pretty candles. A fab idea for this bride who knows how to make dreamy details
The honeymoon
"We travelled to Malaysia. We had an amazing time relaxing on the beaches and snorkelling - we even saw a turtle!" says Laura.
