Winter hen weekend destinations - escape to the sun in style!

Monday, 19 December 2011 12:31

It is official; Winter is here. But instead of feeling glum, there are plenty of reasons to embrace this cool season. There’s little more satisfying than sitting by a roaring cosy fire keeping warm from the cold outside, or seeing beautiful countryside landscapes covered in snow.

If, however, you’re really not a fan of winter, then there are a few destinations abroad you can escape to for a warmer climate and plenty to distract you from the hardships of the coldest season.

Tenerife

There aren’t many places you can sunbathe in the middle of winter but Tenerife is one of them and makes for perfect winter hen weekend destinations. Renowned for beautiful scenery, enjoy the Canary Islands from a luxury catamaran cruise or simply lounge on the beach sipping on cocktails, spending some quality time with your friends.

You’ll be the envy of everyone when you return with a gorgeous tan in comparison to everyone else’s pasty winter complexions!

Barcelona

Though it won’t be as hot as Tenerife, a hen weekend in Barcelona will be considerably warmer than the UK and you can enjoy winter the way the Mediterranean’s like to which involves lots of lovely food, siestas, al fresco dining and partying till dawn.

Enjoy the Port Olympico where you can sit and admire the stunning yachts and enjoy a glass of wine. And, even if architecture isn’t your thing, it’s an absolute must to see at least one of Antoni Guadi’s masterpieces most notably the stunning Sagradia Familiar. His innovative style will blow you away and makes a refreshing change to medieval architecture.

Madrid

What Madrid lacks in architectural landmarks, it makes up for it in its nightlife, shopping and down to earth spirit. One of the most sophisticated destinations to visit for a hen weekend, this city is a great alternative to Barcelona.

The city is vibrant and bursting with passion from flamenco dancers with their gorgeous bright red traditional dresses to markets brimming with fresh fruit, meats and other foodie delights.

Sitting down for tapas is one of the most enjoyable experiences you can have on a hen do in Madrid and the perfect way to spend time with the girls whilst tucking into some delicious food. They’re great for sharing and you can eat as much or as little as you want!
