Themes for your wedding - ideas to suit your personality!
Thinking about themes for your wedding? Have a look at these fab ideas and see for yourself!
Winter Wonderland
This is one of the most popular wedding themes around at the moment. With the unpredictable British weather, we’re seeing a lot of couples embrace the cool climate and incorporate it into their wedding themes. With this magical theme, the cosy feel of Christmas is in the air, creating a very special atmosphere for your wedding. Styling can be exquisite using snow-covered fir trees, cream crack crystal candelabras, mirrored plinths, polished aluminium urns, mirrored coffee tables and luxurious ivory French furniture. The possibilities are endless!
Rather than covering the venue in icicles and snowflakes, brides are keeping it more understated with mostly white tones and touches of silver, pewter, icy blues and lots of cosy textures and eclectic elements. When it comes to flowers – white blooms, silvery foliage and festive flowers are big news. To complete the look, we would encourage warm lighting with an abundance of candles to give an ultra-romantic glow. Snug, sparkly and sophisticated…
Crystal and Pearl
For more traditional brides who want subtle themes that sparkle without going over the top, a pearl and crystal English country garden themes are perfect for a fabulous wedding. Elegant and up to date, simple yet sumptuous, you can’t fail to impress with this classy look. This trend has a clean colour palette of delicate creams, whites, ivories and nudes. If you want an accent colour, sage green or dusky pink works well in moderation.
We love pearl and crystal bouquets that can be carried through your ceremony and then used as a top table decoration for a chic reception idea. What better floral arrangements than pastel pink and cream roses for this theme? This could be the central design on your stationery, too. Team this with bundles of pearls looped on to table centres and vases, and decorate tables with scatter crystals to give a final flourish. Tealights in crystal votives and larger church candles are great for this theme – the flickering effect will catch the pearls, giving an elegant look you’ll love.
Vintage
Vintage is a hot theme that’s just about everywhere at the moment, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to go out of fashion anytime soon either. This year, brides are being inspired by lace, crochet and appliqué textures to offer a more homemade appeal. They’re also mixing their decorations – placing rustic flowers in elegant settings, using organic materials as couture finishing touches and mixing a wild, country-garden style with sophisticated and fashion-forward trends.
The Angels have a vast variety of vintage styling items available that are perfect for this theme from birdcages and antique French lanterns to stone urns and unique vintage tea sets. All these items combined with an abundance of pastel-coloured floral displays will pull this theme together perfectly. We love the idea of having a birdcage as your wedding post box – beautiful!
Black and White
Monochrome is all over the catwalk and brides are carrying these stylish black and white themes into their receptions. This look is contemporary, chic and very stylish, but it doesn’t have to be super formal, you can have some serious fun with it, too. The walls of the marquee or venue can be dressed with textured wallpaper following the black and white themes and the room can be dressed with black plinths with glass urns overflowing with orchids and black twigs, pushing the contemporary look.
In the evening reception area the colour can be reversed – the roof can be lined with a black starcloth creating the perfect atmosphere for the party. The plinths in this area could be ivory and stunning black urns could be filled with exquisite white roses or hydrangea heads if you’re working to a budget. To add a contrast that works really well, fuchsia pink lighting can be added to the evening reception – an unpredictable twist for your guests and the ultimate wow factor. These themes are certainly the most glamorous, so you could consider going all out and asking guests to have a black tie dress code, or even theme it on movies like James Bond. For an extravagant talking point you could also get an ice sculpture made that will glisten all night long under the indoor stars.
