Spots are common in the run up to a wedding with sleepless nights and high stress levels, but with some forward planning and the right products to hand, they’re no great disaster.
Treat with an antibacterial product, but be aware that spot-busting solutions range from mild to super-aggressive, so test in plenty of time to ensure yours won’t dry the skin. Include a good camouflaging concealer as part of your make-up/beauty routine.
“My eyes are puffy!”
Whether it’s wedding excitement or nerves keeping you up all night, your eyes are bound to take the strain, resulting in puffiness, bags and dark circles, none of which you’ll want on your wedding day.
A cold damp flannel or cooling eye mask applied to the eyelids will help to reduce swelling in an emergency. Your best bet is a product designed to enhance natural beauty and reduce puffiness while toning, tightening and smoothing the skin for longer lasting brighter-eyed results.
“My skin looks dull!”
Treating winter skin or a complexion troubled by early mornings, late nights and lots of wedding planning in between can be tricky. Choose from the huge range of beauty products available on the high street designed to soothe, calm and rehydrate.
Also keep an eye out for products that specifically fight to improve tone, smooth dry zones and bring life to stressed skin. Try to test them before the wedding.
“My tan is streaky!”
Applied properly, a self-tan transforms skin from pale and pasty to glowing and gorgeous beauty in a matter of hours. But when things go wrong and you’re left more streaky than sexy, it’s time for a clean slate.
Exfoliation can help and will at least leave a smooth surface when you come to reapply, but to tackle stubbornly stripy skin, you’ll find the best results come from a specialist self-tan remover product. Give yourself a few days to apply tan before the wedding day, so you have time to fix it!
“My hair is greasy!”
Your hairdresser has requested unwashed hair but you’ve woken up to a head full of greasy roots. No worries! Keep everyone happy with a dry shampoo or hair powder designed to absorb oil from only those areas in which it has built up, while leaving hair with plenty of texture so it’ll still be easy to style.
If you’re wearing your hair loose for the wedding, remember to keep your powder handy for emergency reapplications throughout the day. Keep shoulders covered when you apply to avoid sprinkles on your dress.
“Ouch! Chapped lips”
A common occurrence, particularly in winter, chapped lips not only look ragged, sore and completely un-kissable but also make the application of lipstick or gloss almost impossible - A no-no for bridal beauty on your wedding day!
Prevention is better than cure, so use a lip balm daily, but when you’re short on time and need lips smooth and supple fast, remove flakes with an exfoliator then follow with an intensive balm to rehydrate and soften for a smooth make-up ready surface. Make sure you don’t scrub too hard, though!
